Former Navy SEAL Jonathan Gilliam Discusses New Rules of Engagement in Afghanistan
Breitbart ^ | December 29, 2017 | DAN RIEHL

Jonathan Gilliam, former Navy SEAL, FBI special agent, and author of Sheep No More: The Art of Awareness and Attack Survival, spoke with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Steve Bannon on Friday regarding the Trump administration’s new rules of engagement in Afghanistan. The rules are already being credited with saving lives and increasing the effectiveness of the war effort, as addressed in a Breitbart News report: “Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle, Gold Star father Billy Vaughn praised the loosened rules of engagement President Donald Trump authorized Defense Secretary James Mattis to operate with.”

Gilliam told Bannon on Friday that there are two key aspects in the new rules of engagement, saying, “One is proximity. The bad guy doesn’t have to be actually engaged with our forces to be taken out. So they can be a long ways off. If we know they’re bad, we can go get them.”

He added that it is hard to believe such a rule was not in place before, adding that the other change involves embedding American advisers with allied troops. “It’s an unbelievable force multiplier,” he said. “Ultimately, that’s what they [allied troops] lack when they go in the field, is direction,” Gilliam said.

It is great to see what happens when you let the professionals do their job as they see fit. Mattis is one of the best.

WTF — Under the former ROE the enemy had to be in close proximity and couldn’t be engaged at distance? That would have largely crippled our snipers. Such stupid ROE must have been dreamed up by Obama’s perfumed princes and the SJWs he had promoted and place in supposedly responsible positions.

Thank God for Trump but it will be difficult to gradually rid our armed forces of the wimpy social justice ideologues and their degenerate influence.

I believe it was worse than that. Our forces had to observe the enemy doing something hostile, such as planting an IED etc, before engaging. So one guy walking around at night could tye up a half dozen people for hours, observing him with drones, giving status reports up and down the chain of command, and essentially waiting for him to ultimately do something ‘hostile’.

I actually heard that one of Obama’s minions basically said that the other day. Soooo glad BHO is gone and DJT is President. BHO thought he knew everything about everything - even making war. Totally delusional.

Barky never wanted them to do their job. H was more concerned with saving muzzie lives than Americans.

This could not be further from the truth. Buggery had pretty much messed up DoD which is making an incredible recovery. We still need to purge the civilian ranks in DoD and also the defense industry of NWO/crony capitalist stooges and we will be bad to the bone again.

Imagine that. You can kill the bad guys before they have a chance to kill you. Who’d a thunk it!?

Gosh - President Trump thinks they should be able to use modern weapons technology to "reach out and touch someone" instead of letting the enemy surround you before trying to hurt them back......WINNING!

MAGA!
