HOUSTON - A man has been arrested on multiple charges after police located a small arsenal of guns on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street downtown, Houston police said.

Police at the hotel called for backup around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after they attempted to arrest the man for being intoxicated and trespassing. When help arrived, police noticed ammunition laying around the man's hotel room, Lt. Gordon Macintosh with Houston police said.

The man was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing. When investigators looked into his room further, they located an AR-15, a shotgun, a handgun and lots of ammunition, Macintosh said.

The Hyatt is preparing its own New Years Eve celebration at the hotel with a 50,000 balloon drop at the stroke of midnight, its website said.

Good thing FBI didn’t get there first. So much stinks about the Las Vegas massacre, and multiple shooters is a real scenario, imho.

Thats not even close to being a arsenal. Most people bring twice that amount to the range.

One shotgun, one AR, and one handgun? Sounds to me like he didn’t want to leave them in his vehicle overnight, is all.

If that room is an arsenal, I hate to think of what they would call my office.

I travel with a pistol. I sometimes travel with a shotgun - if I believe that weather or geography or other conditions mean being stranded away from people.

But to attend a public party with an AR15 is kinda strange. Don’t get me wrong, doing it with a 30-06 bolt action is too.

But I’ve traveled with the pistol and a shotgun before.

It’s pretty clear this guy was looking for action. If he couldn’t find it, it’s logical that he would create it. A fine job to the police department on this one !

An AR-15 and a shot gun are an arsenal? I had more than that in my truck yesterday.

Agreed. He was looking for trouble. Its the headline that conditions people to think if you have more than one gun and some ammo, its a “Arsenal” and you are looking for trouble. Next step after “conditioning” people with this form of thinking, is Asset Forfeiture.... like they do if you have 8K$ on you to buy a car, and get pulled over for a traffic infraction. Say by to the cash if they get their paws on it.

Police are waiting to interview the man until he has sobered up

Didn't they even find out his name yet? Usually after a person is charged, the police release the suspect's name to the media, right?.

Must be one of those long pesky Amish names.

He has a room and is charged with trespassing?

If he was charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm, does this mean he’s an ex-con, or is there some law restricting firearms in the hotel, or what?

Who writes this stuff?

The fact that he was trespassing is what makes one wonder what he was up to. But the other part about being intoxicated, confuses the motivation part of his trespassing. He could just be a stupid drunk. I don’t leave guns in my vehicles either as most here don’t, and Im in one of the lowest crime areas possible. (no population, rough country)

“”trespassing. When investigators looked into his room further””

Wonder how he could have been trespassing if he had a room!

I guess if the police arrest a person and they don’t release his name, we won’t know where this dude went. Kind of secret arrest, like Argentina, etc.?

So, in Houston you can be arrested for having 3 firearms...drunk...and trespassing in your own friggin’ hotel room?

WTF?

Typical vacation outing...

A handgun is not something that wold even raise an eyebrow with me. But the dude was trespassing at a place where there is going to be a big new years party with an AR 15. This guy was trouble and I think the cops may have prevented something really bad from happening.

“Can I still call myself conservative?”

Sure. You can call yourself anything you want. But calling yourself one doesn’t make you one. Obviously you’re NOT a conservative, but go ahead, call yourself conservative: we ACTUAL conservatives CAN tell the difference, so we’re not worried about any possible confusion.
