You can’t deny it, these Seahawks got exactly what they deserved — no spot in playoffs

How can the same problems repeatedly doom one team? How can mental mistakes so consistently outshine physical talent? This season didn’t get away from the Seahawks — the Seahawks pushed it away.

This wasn’t about injuries. The Seahawks might have lost some premier players, but that’s not why their season ended before the New Year.

It wasn’t about bad breaks, either. As far as favorable bounces go, the football gods weren’t particularly unjust to Seattle this season.

No, the Seahawks missing their first postseason since 2011 is primarily due to this: underachievement. They aren’t going to the playoffs because, quite frankly, they never deserved to be in them.

The article points out injuries, etc., but we all know the real reason they lost out..

from ESPN.com, "Seattle Seahawks: The same Seahawks who have either sat or knelt during the national anthem for much of the season did the same thing before the team’s regular-season finale against Arizona. Those sitting again were: Dion Jordan, Paul Dawson, Frank Clark, Marcus Smith, Michael Bennett, Sheldon Richardson, Jarran Reed, Quinton Jefferson and Branden Jackson. All but Dawson -- a linebacker -- are defensive linemen. Left tackle Duane Brown took a knee next to those players while center Justin Britt stood next to him with his hand on Brown’s shoulder in support. -- Brady Henderson"

My not provable theory is that weak minded players kneel. That’s why they lose, they’re weak minded.

I really hope you’re right. I heard Michael Bennett got hurt, but nothing serious, I fear.

Injuries happen to every team, in every sport, every season.

It seems lame to me, to blame problems on injuries, because you have to expect injuries will happen.

Plus, injuries are happening to your opponents as well. So some of your opposing teams are weaker than they would be if not for their injuries. so where does that leave that argument?

NFL? I find your post mentioning the NFL to be highly offensive and insensitive.

I thought this was Free Republic, not ESPN! Personally, I could not care less about the Skeedadle Sea Hawks, the Philadelphia Pussies, the Tampa Bay Tampons, the San Francisco Faggots, or any of the rest of the Black knee takers. Why is this important to the vast majority of FReepers I ask you? I guess you haven’t managed to “kick” the NFL habit yet!

Bad offensive line. If the Seahawks had made the playoffs, Russell Wilson would deserve MVP just for getting them there despite his OL.

The Seahawks discipline was awful this year as evidenced by them being #1 in penalties. When you let players start taking a crap on the flag then they stop listening to the coaches as well.

Agree. I also thought we were beyond giving bandwidth to the America-hating NFL.

I think that if they would have paid a little more attention to the GAME they are paid very well to play instead of focusing on their false narratives and imaginary oppression they might have had a better season!

Still waiting for Michael Bennett to apologize for lying about what happened to him in Las Vegas before I watch another game...not holding my breath!! (And Coach Pete Carroll also needs to apologize for the police bashing press conference that he held supporting Bennett before any facts were known!)
