Likewise Heritage Action gives Hatch a 33% rating.

Hatch may have been conservative 30 years ago, but today Hatch has becoming a senile leftist.

Hatch was two men.

He had a really high conservative rating in his votes.

But he was a moral squish and a big-government compromiser in his walking-around time. When he started doing tonsil hockey with Ted Kennedy, it was a signal of his moral journey.

“””He had a really high conservative rating in his votes.”””

As Reagan used to say: “You are entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own set of facts”

I suggest you check out Hatch’s really low conservative rating at Heritage Action where Hatch gets a 33% rating.

Thanks for the quick response especially considering the time of night, for some of us anyway. I don’t recall begging an apology in my twenty years at FR but your post got my attention. Your apology is certainly accepted. I am glad I didn’t accuse you of being drunk. lol

Come on Michelle, he’s not that bad!

I guess you don't remember that he declared thatTed Kennedy was his very best friend. He also gave us Buzzy Ginsberg because a president has a right to his picks. He of course recommended Ruth to Bill as someone who could sail through confirmation.

Hatch should’ve retired in 1988 or 1994 (indeed, his successor should’ve already retired by now).

Only 3 Senators voted against Gingberg, and it was a rat Senate. Blaming Hatch for her is silly. If Orrin Hatch was never born, the *itch would still be on the court.

Hatch recommended her as an easy confirmation, what part of that didn't you understand?

And if he didn’t someone else would have or someone else would have suggested someone just as bad. Obviously Senate Republicans had no intention of trying to filibuster, they didn’t even vote against her, Clinton was gonna get his commie justice, Hatch or no Hatch.

I’m not saying he’s a Prince among men but he’s definitely not someone I would hold in such utter contempt.

I don't hold him in utter contempt, I just think he falls far short of being the Saint you paint him to be. Any Democrat would have been worse by far but anyone that claims that Ted Kennedy was his very best friend should be suspect as to his loyalties.

The Progressive democrats are not just the opposition they are the enemy of the Constitutional Republic and any Republican should know that. They eschew Christ and embrace Islam, what would you expect the outcome to be?

Earning the approbation of other office-clinging politicians doesn't make you a "respected political leader." It makes you an echo-chamber chump... a Big Government business-as-usual dealmaker... wet-finger-in-the-wind... throwing constitutional conservatives under the bus... joined with his old pal Teddy Kennedy to create the $6 billion national service boondoggle and the $8 billion-a-year CHIP health insurance entitlement.... was an original sponsor of the open-borders DREAM Act illegal alien student bailout... voted to fully fund the unconstitutional Obama amnesty during the lame-duck session... voted for massive Wall Street bailouts, 16 debt ceiling increases totaling $7.5 trillion, and scores of earmarks totaling hundreds of millions of dollars... the Senate's top recipient of lobbyist cash... for the past two years, Team Hatch allies have spearheaded a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign, squeezing donations from corporate donors and pharma and tech lobbyists to subsidize a "Hatch Foundation" and "Hatch Center" to commemorate the Hatch legacy. "Statesman" isn't a titled earned by mere length of service. It's not a cheap status conferred like an AARP card or IHOP senior discount. A politician who notches decades of frequent flyer miles back and forth between Washington and his "home" state, enjoying the endless perks of incumbency, does not acquire statesmanship by perpetual re-election and political self-aggrandizement.
Thanks Oshkalaboomboom.
