With a seeming rise in the occurrence of snow days, blizzards and icy travel, the common belief that climate change isn’t happening comes as no surprise.
Scientists stress that locally wintry weather conditions are not indicators of changes in climate, and weather conditions in one part of the world are not representative of what’s occurring globally.
“It’s like saying, 'if everyone around me is wealthy, then poverty is not a problem,'” Peter Frumhoff, the Union of Concerned Scientists science and policy director and chief climate scientist, told CNN.
Scientists point to hard data, including temperature measurements on land and water taken over several decades, which points to an upwards trend in global temperatures, otherwise known as global warming.
“We know that right now, we’ve had three years – 2016, 2015 and 2014 – which were the hottest on record since 1880,” said Brenda Exwanker, climate science director and senior climate scientist for the Union of Concerned Scientists.
NASA reported that 16 of the 17 warmest years on record all happened since 2001.
“Global warming is definitely happening,” Exwanker added.
A popular question seems to be that if global warming is occurring, why do winters seem unusually harsh?
Understanding the distinct difference between weather and climate helps to answer that question.
"Weather refers to the conditions in the atmosphere over a short period of time, whereas climate refers to trends in atmospheric patterns over a much longer timescale," said Dr. John Fleming, a climate scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity.
“This is well expressed as an analogy: weather is like your mood, whereas climate is like your personality,” he said.
“This is why it is possible to have unusually cold weather across much of the U.S. [during] winter, while observing that globally, surface temperatures have been steadily rising,” he added.

They are using the climate con to transfer wealth from rich countries (US) to poor countries.
So, if the whole planet has darned cold weather for a couple of decades, it does not become “global cooling”?

They use a lots of words to say, "Because we say so, that's why."
But then, why do these people blame global warming, when we have summer heat waves? In those cases , they do extrapolate their theories from day to day weather .
They are also using it to control our lives. CO2 is a byproduct of virtually all human endeavors (except farming and gardening). Once you can get CO2 categorized as a pollutant, you have created the foundation upon which can be built laws that control literally every aspect of human life.

In other words, don’t believe your own eyes. Believe what your government minders tell you instead.
the latest name is Climate Crisis.
They kind of had to change the name because there wasn’t any global warming.
There has always been climate change.

I love it. When there is record cold the GW crowd says that’s just weather not climate. But when there’s a heat wave in the summer or large hurricane they point to it as proof positive of global warming.
The idiots who devised it called the theory “Global Warming”.
It was supposedly a runaway greenhouse effect.
Calling it “Climate Change” in and of itself concedes that global warming was debunked. And the credibility of those who proposed and defended “Global Warming” has been defaulted.
So who are these new theorists devoid of the discredited warmists?
On the other hand, true believers are free to use hurricanes and other extreme but otherwise normal weather events to “prove” that global warming hoax is real.
