WASHINGTON More than a year after Republican leaders promised to investigate Russian interference in the presidential election, two influential Republicans on Friday made the first known congressional criminal referral in connection with the meddling against one of the people who sought to expose it. Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a senior committee member, told the Justice Department they had reason to believe that a former British spy, Christopher Steele, lied to federal authorities about his contacts with reporters regarding information in the dossier, and they urged the department to investigate. The committee is running one of three congressional investigations into Russian election meddling, and its inquiry has come to focus, in part, on Mr. Steeles explosive dossier that purported to detail Russias interference and the Trump campaigns complicity. The decision by Mr. Grassley and Mr. Graham to single out the former intelligence officer behind the dossier and not anyone who may have taken part in the Russian interference was certain to infuriate Democrats and raise the stakes in the growing partisan battle over the investigations into Mr. Trump, his campaign team and Russia.

Some sources are already reporting that the Yimes story is completely false.
Times, I mean.
How about firings and charges for trying to frame a guy.
The guy invented a dog.
The FBI knew it was contrived.
To them and their horses....
The opening sentence portrays Republicans as standing against noble heroes and thus by extension with dastardly villains.
DOJ Dpty Atty Bruce Ohr was demoted in summer 2017 after the IG discovered unreported 2016 contacts between Ohr and “Golden Showers” Dossier author Christopher Steele.
Ohr also had contact with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson, in October 2016.
Wait until you see the list of Fusion GPS paid hacks in the Media and those Inside Fedzilla that also paid for this garbage.
It will look like a DNC Campaign Donation list.
Does this tie in to Trump’s awards for most dishonest jounalists set for Monday at 5 pm?
Wait until we see how many US citizens were unmasked by BS FISA
warrants. Boom !!
HOORAY Republican Senators.
Prison is the only deterrent to crime that these people will understand. Comey according to the FBI FOIA officer distributed Classified documents outside of the FBI. Comey testified before the Congress that he leaked to a “friend” in order for that to be sent to the media in an effort to get a “special counsel” (his friend) to investigate and undermine the sitting duly elected PRESIDENT. This is a no brainer. Arrest him today. Give him the same treatment the was given to Manafort.
The narrative employed by the Times that says that Steele was seeking to expose Russian interference is clearly and intentionally false.
There must be a section of the Times' editorial style book that explicitly spells out the need for their writers to repeat the official lies as frequently as possible, so that the lie can be spread widely and effectively.
Yep, they can't let this stuff slide. People need to be jailed for a long time, at the least (I'm not opposed to executions, but that probably won't happen). If you let them off the hook, this garbage will happen again, and soon.
No, “Yimes” is good ... whatever its meaning.
It means the “Y” key is too damn close to the “T” key. It certainly has nothing to do with my poor eyesight. ;)
Grassley is a bit Establishment for my taste, but he’s completely right here.
Why not press charges against the rogues in the Justice Department who used it and turned the FBI into the KGB?
If they go this route, it dies with the Brit Spy story.
The NYT wants it to die so Media Matters and key journalists are not implicated in Obstruction of Justice.
The Senate wants it to die to keep key RINO Senators from being replaced.
