Nope, becuase the states control the first 3 miles out, and they won’t allow the pipelines.

The oil companies will not want the hassle of trying to overcome state challenges to get pipelines and terminals built.

They won’t want to use ships as that’s too expensive.

My guess is they don’t even bother trying to drill offshore of Dem run states.

Pipelines are not always needed. Back up an oil tanker and fill ‘er up.

What is interesting is cnn and msnbc aren’t even talking about it. All I see from them is “the book” and the palace intrigue. He could do anything right now and they wouldn’t report it. Good or bad in their mind.

‘Pipelines are not always needed. Back up an oil tanker and fill ‘er up.”

Way too expensive as far as my research goes.

First 3 miles isn’t a big sacrifice.

As for prohibiting pipelines:

Perhaps they prefer the spill risks associated with tanker to rig, mate/demate operations?

Perhaps they should consider the associated increase to the tax base by having actual productive jobs?

They just won’t permit any new terminals or any new oil tanker ops. These need state approval. In some cases in Cali, they even need county approval and public vote approval.

The only thing is that Cali needs money very badly, and that oil revenue may be too good to turn down for the politicians.

Shut down the pipelines supplying CA from other states. That ought to bring ‘em around pretty quick.

Even if nothing is produced for years, having accurate inventories and maps will be a good thing.

I think in California, the tourism industry is pretty powerful in terms of state influence, enviro-whackism aside, even a small oil spill is very bad for business.

Well I guess I will have to be the one that tells the tourists that crude oil has been bubbling up from our sea floors for several million years.
You can always find oil globs along our beaches, even where there aren’t any rigs.
And just as a matter of interest it bubbles up right out of the ground at La Brea.
