FBI ruled McCabe had no conflict of interest in Clinton probe: docs

The FBI said in documents released Friday that Deputy Director Andrew McCabe did not have any role in the probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server while his wife ran as a Democrat for state office in Virginia.

The documents note that Jill McCabe announced her candidacy for state Senate in Virginia in March 2015, while Andrew McCabe's role as deputy director started in February 2016, three months after his wife lost her electoral bid.

Andrew McCabe had asked ethics officials if his wife's candidacy would lead to a potential conflict of interest while he was working as an assistant director at the FBI Field Office in Washington, D.C., the documents show.

“From the first contemplation that his wife would run for office in Virginia, [McCabe] sought out and consulted with ethics officers, which included briefings on the Hatch Act,” the records state.

A "system of recusal" was also put in place to prevent any potential conflicts of interests, according to the documents.

The release of the documents comes after President Trump and other Republicans have claimed McCabe had a conflict of interest due to his wife's electoral bid, noting that her campaign was supported by a super-PAC associated to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), a Clinton ally.

This absolute, unalloyed, bovine excrement and in spades! It’s as believable as their exoneration of Hilary, BEFORE anyone was even interviewed!

His wife get $700,000 for her campaign. Then after he gets a very sensitive job at the FBI with giant political ramifications?

Who hired him? What was the interview process? Was the position advertised?

I don’t get it ? What does not having concurrent time lines have to do with anything ?
Clinton gave McCabe’s wife 700k...period.
How do you eventually put him in charge of the Clinton investigation without there being a conflict ?

The FBI, a once highly thought of department, has now been so tarnished and sullied, that it will take at least 25 years and the complete firing of EVERYONE, for it to gain any kind of “good” reputation again.

Yes but we will hear what an independent source has to say. This is a blatant CYA attempt. Not buying it.

Well, I’m glad the FBI cleared that up for us.

Boy, do I feel stupid now.

Yeah, McCabe was so concerned about ethics that he campaigned for his wife on FBI time...

So if it was all on the up and up, and no conflict, why did he recuse himself from the Clinton email investigation Nov 1, 2016 ? (Clinton emails on Weiner’s computer discovered)

https://vault.fbi.gov/deputy-director-mccabe-ethical-guidance-and-recusal/deputy-director-mccabe-ethical-guidance-and-recusal-part-01-of-01/view
(page 9 “Midyear investigatio”n=hillary emails)
My guess, this careerist scumbag thought that Trump might win, and wanted to distance himself from a tainted investigation and make a “good transition”.

Nice find. I didn’t see where “Mid-Year” was defined. Do you know what it is ?
Initial Contact and Completed Dates on Page 10 & 11 don’t make sense and for Hatch Act ?
and I have no clue what pages 12 & 13 are telling me for Initial Contact and Completed Date = 06/03/2016 - Conflicts of Interest but no Hatch Act ?

How much of the $700K “contribution” was actually spent on the campaign, and what happened to any unspent funds?

The fbi ruled hillary did nothing wrong before they investigated. The whole agency is a den of snakes and needs to be cleaned out with a flame thrower. I dont buy this crap about the rank and file being good any more than a nazi sympathizer during the holocaust who just sat there and did nothing.

There is a small kernel of people there that have been been in Leadership forever. What they don’t tell you is that McCabe was Associate Deputy Director before Deputy Director.

McCabe was already being groomed for that job.

So McCabe was literally one or two steps away from running the entire FBI, and his wife was running unopposed (in Primary) for State Senator in the State where FBI Hdqtrs exists and employs all its brass.

So, we’re supposed to believe the guy 1-2 steps away from running everything with a potential Senator Wife, had no sway?

The reporting is a joke

Midyear was the FBI name for the Clinton email investigation.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/22/us/politics/james-comey-election.html

McCabe really is a beauty. He had no problem working on the Clinton email investigation from Feb 2016 when he became D-Dir until Comey “closed” it in June.

Then when Clinton emails are found on Weiner’s laptop in late Oct, and the case is “reopened” by Comey, bureaucratic weasel McCabe knows that everyone associated with the reopening will be a political target of one side or the other.

So he conveniently “recuses” himself and doesn’t have to answer for anything that was done during the “reopening”.

And is well positioned for both sides in case Comey is fired after the election.

Pressure this guy ! McCabe is surely a liberal. But McCabe is for McCabe. He is not a J BAker Hillary fanatic leaking to Mother Jones, or a “savior of America” like Strzok.

This weasel is the weakest link. He will rat out all the others to save himself.

“The whole agency is a den of snakes and needs to be cleaned out with a flame thrower. I dont buy this crap about the rank and file being good any more than a nazi sympathizer during the holocaust who just sat there and did nothing.”

I generally agree. My only caveat is that they established the Hillary email investigation in a FBI HQ “special unit” (McCabe specifially set this up).

That suggests to me that they didn’t trust regular handling of the emails would result in the “correct” investigative result.

Find all the agents that Comey, McCabe et al attempted to sideline, marginalize or demote. Keep them and get rid of the rest !
