Oprah vs. the Donald, and the Winner is...

TV personality Oprah Winfrey is the likely winner over President Trump if the 2020 election were held today, but there are a lot of undecideds.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would opt for Winfrey, while 38% would choose Trump. But a sizable 14% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Winfrey has the support of 76% of Democrats, 22% of Republicans and 44% of voters not affiliated with either major political party. The president earns 66% of the vote from Republicans, 12% of Democrats and 38% of unaffiliateds.

Twelve percent (12%) of both Republicans and Democrats are undecided given this matchup. One-in-five unaffiliated voters (19%) aren’t sure which candidate they would support.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of all voters view Winfrey favorably, including 27% with a Very Favorable view of the longtime media personality and entrepreneur. That’s little changed from 2011 after Winfrey announced she was ending her TV talk show after 25 years on the air. Thirty-four percent (34%) share an unfavorable view of her, with 18% who have a Very Unfavorable one.

Before chicken littles appear, and those who espouse, "that's not good" with frequency, the sample is bunk. Here's my logic.

I scoured it...

1000 likely voters, period...no dems or Pubbies sample, nope, just likely voters. No data on how many hang ups, etc.

As a conservative, would you answer such a poll?

Me?

Nope. Hang up. Only Dems love such polls...I'd wager those answering were like 75/25 dems/conservs

Anyone disagree? If so, show me.

We need to talk this up. Oprah will win in a contest with The Donald.

;) (That is a wink)

Pass it on.

Oprah could never pull a Mike Dukakis, because she wouldn’t fit into the tank.

There must be a mistake, the poll had to have been Oprah vs. Hillary.

All the polls were saying President Trump didn’t have a chance of being president.

"...the sample is bunk..."

Agreed! If I opt to not hang-up on an annoying pollster, my demographics all get completely altered.
That said, we should also treat any Democrat opponent as a credible threat to our successes and freedoms now being led by President Trump.

I would love to see Oprah try to debate Trump on serious issues.

Even people who *like* Oprah way more than they *like* Trump won't take her as seriously when the reality of voting comes around.

Its like talking about a court case in the abstract...and being on the actual jury. People take it way more seriously in the latter case and are afraid of getting it wrong. But when people are just talking, or taking a survey, social pressures and not wanting to appear un-cool hold sway.

I note that in this last election...the places Hillary tended to do well was limited to non-swing states. People that knew their votes didn't matter and were making a statement. Trump won the swing states because people voting there were forced to take the race seriously, and the social statement water cooler stuff was not an issue.

Hmmm, I thought Oprah would be 40% up on Trump.

Besides the Democrat nominee is going to be Kamala Harris, not Oprah.

Polls? Could care less.

I'd like to think that Trump would destroy Oprah in any debate. Heck, she might not make it out of a primary process.

Unfortunately, white, middle-and-upper-middle-class women voted for Trump, but I'd bet they like Oprah better. That, plus the black vote, plus the idiots who always vote (D), plus the other idiots who will stay home because "Trump isn't conservatively pure enough" (cough...FReepers...cough) makes things look pretty good for her. Doesn't mean I like it, I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Republicans, and Trump, better not underestimate her. Her ego - which allows her to name a TV network and a magazine after herself, and put herself on the cover every month - certainly is big enough to want something like this.

So she gets the same 48% that Hillary got and what every other Democrat candidate will get going into the race.

Gee. I didn’t know there were that many black communist voters in America.

For gosh sakes, exit polls aren’t even accurate anymore. How can anybody take a poll seriously nearly 3 years out from the election?
