On Monday, President Barack Obama gave an emotional speech commemorating the $79 million replica of the Senate chamber at the Edward M. Kennedy Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
The thrust of Obamas speech condemned America as an unimaginative, prejudiced, unambitious country whose only hope lies in liberals who selflessly dedicate their lives to leading it out of the darkness.
The replica of the Senate chamber celebrated the hard, frustrating, never-ending war progressives wage against America on its behalf, Obama declared.
We live in a time of such great cynicism about all our institutions. And we are cynical about government and about Washington, most of all. Its hard for our children to see, in the noisy and too often trivial pursuits of todays politics, the possibilities of our democracy our capacity, together, to do big things, Obama said. And this place can help change that. It can help light the fire of imagination, plant the seed of noble ambition in the minds of future generations. Imagine a gaggle of school kids clutching tablets, turning classrooms into cloakrooms and hallways into hearing rooms, assigned an issue of the day and the responsibility to solve it.
Children in America are brought up with a backwards view of the world, Obama said. Their moral universes are small and prejudiced, but progressive governing will open their minds.
Imagine their moral universe expanding as they hear about the momentous battles waged in that chamber and how they echo throughout todays society. Great questions of war and peace, the tangled bargains between North and South, federal and state; the original sins of slavery and prejudice; and the unfinished battles for civil rights and opportunity and equality, said Americas first black president, elected after he promised Americans a post-racial presidency.

The 1965 immigration act is horrendous & totally destructive policy. It need to be repealed. It is the cornerstone of the demographic and fundamental change to America.
Every bit of this is a lie.
Kennedy declared: First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same
Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia
In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think
The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.
I thought Mary Jo was his legacy. But I could be wrong.
For what ever reason, Mary Jo was not invited to the ceremony.
It is his revenge to America for the killing of his brothers. He knew if he let’s the poor in, they’ll do it for him.
Obama making things about himself again.
More then likely it is his revenge for us not electing him president. How jealous of his dead brothers he must have been as even though they were most sadly murdered / assassinated, they had the glory, the power, the worshipful fame of eternal remembrance. After he realized that he’d never be elected president because most people in the country hated him, what did he have left? Revenge. You can blame those who elected him to congress, just not the who!e state please.
Or maybe one with a picture of Teddy in that grim looking neckbrace at Mary Jo's funeral.
They say that Mary Jo probably lived for hours before running out of air.
Have al the Hatian immigrants to Kennedy Compound Hyannis Island. The only half African joker was from Kenya.
Ruined the “immigration” outcome but still, the demodummies got more voters. Ruined for whom?
I am finishing my new bio of Ronald Reagan, due out July 4.
It is extremely positive, but unfortunately facts are facts:
It was REAGAN and his administration in 19891 (!!!) who conceived “Simpson-Mazzoli (1986). His admin pushed it as mainly a solution to the Cuban/Haitian issue. Still, all of the amnesty provisions were in the REAGAN proposal that eventually became law for five years.
You forgot that Congress is the part of the government that creates legislation, the only part that legislates.
"This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1-1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another Amnesty Bill like this." Ted Kennedy, 1986
Congress took Reagan’s template. The Reagan admin worked about five years on the legislation. Congress just passed what he asked for. I can show you the stack of documents, which I copied from the Reagan Library.
Not entirely. Kennedy was a modern DemocRat who believed the all powerful socialist state should murder its citizens. (See Stalin, Mao, and Hitler.) Mary Jo was just his personal contribution.
If the Act wasn’t going to change anything, why did he advocate it?
Every word Teddy Kennedy ever uttered knowingly promoted a lie.
