Senators try to scrub Jefferson's name from the Arch [St. Louis]
St Louis Today ^ | Jan 9, 2018

How nice that our two Missouri senators can find common ground in the removal of the name "Jefferson" from the most recognized structure in the St. Louis area ("We call it the Arch; soon, that may be its formal name, too ," Jan. 5).

The proposal, introduced by Republican Roy Blunt the same week as the Confederate Monument in Forest Park was taken down, scrubs the name of the slave-owning third president and author of the Declaration of Independence from the monument celebrating Western expansion. Instead of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the shiny silver structure will be named the Gateway Arch National Monument.

Thank goodness visitors can now avoid honoring those who brought white privilege to the Plains, and can purchase "Made in China" Arch souvenirs with no reminder of the author of Jeffersonian democracy.

Maybe we can name it the Jefferson's arch. It would be politically correct and being plural could include Thomas.

At some point, we’re gonna have to draw the line with the insanity caused by the mental disease known as liberalism. They will eventually endanger us to the point of our destruction. They need to be dealt with before that happens. Lots and lots of rope is the only known cure for it.

No problem. We can rename back to original names following CW II and the guillotining of all liberals.
All liberals.
All.

This type of B.S. is nothing but self-propelled virtue signaling. Are there actually throngs of people demanding this to be done? No. Politicians are actively searching out something they can deem ‘racist’ so they can decry it and show their compassion for people of color.

The Capitol of Missouri is located in Jefferson City.

What are they going to do about that?

Wait, I thought this would be some city/state thing? Blunt is a U.S. Senator. He can't possibly think this will pass the United States Congress, or that Congress would care to take this up at all in an election year (or really, any year in the foreseeable future.)

It's just like gay marriage went to transgender stuff. You give the left an inch, they will take a mile.

If you stood with the left during their anti-Confederate hysteria, you have no room to complain now. That was always the opening shot, the low-hanging fruit in their long-term war against American history. After they're done there, it'll be Texas Revolution figures (Sam Houston) and Andrew Jackson, then onto Thomas Jefferson and Christopher Columbus, and then finally figures such as George Washington and really any other Founding Father that ever owned slaves.

I see some coward GOPers still wage war on the South instead of their democrat colleagues who were responsible for most of the bloodshed

“Blunt is one of the good guys...cant imagine why hes doing this.”

Yeah, “good guys” always seem to want to whitewash our nation’s history. The sooner we all realize that these douches are the same, just with a different letter next to their name, the sooner we can start rebuilding our nation’s identity. TERM LIMITS NOW!!!

I cannot wait for the Somalis to want to rename St Paul, Minn.

Getting back to the Arch, maybe they could complete the semi circle to a complete one and say welcome to the S..t...e, Saint Louis.
