Chelsea Manning, the former US army private who was imprisoned for passing information to WikiLeaks, has filed to run for a seat in the US Senate.... federal election filing, made on Thursday, confirmed Manning’s intention to run in the November elections as a Democrat.
Manning, now 30, was sentenced in 2013 to 35 years in jail, for her part in the 2010 leak of more than 700,000 documents and videos to news outlets including the Guardian and the New York Times....Manning, who was formerly known as Bradley and who attempted suicide while in prison, is now a writer and activist who has been a columnist for the Guardian.
Her sentence was commuted by President Obama

Well as I see it this is just another trans looking for attention of which they need a constant supply. Especially this dude! Talk about mentally unstable!
It’s pretty easy to throw makeup on a man to look like a woman.....but the neck down is just freakish because you know he’s still a man no matter what he changes, he cannot change his DNA.
It is more complicated than just being an attention seeking trans. During the trial, Manning had legal help and/or general support from some people who were committed Marxist/Leninists. S/he may be under pressure to repay some of the free legal help and public pressure provided by them. Here is who the major opponent will be:

Some of these Marxist/Leninists are strongly pro Russia, and even I suspect pro-Putin. Knocking a knowledgeable person off the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, would seriously reduce knowledge and experience regarding the complex Russia situation.
On the naive and gullible scale, Manning is a maxed-out ten.
I would suggest this...he’d have name-recognition and probably fifty-percent of the folks between eighteen and twenty-five years old would vote for the guy.
Maryland is such a s***-hole, I say go for it, and let him represent the state. Help Manning get a job.
Such is life in the USA, that being a “celebrity” qualifies you for any role in life, no matter what it is.

Yah, Maryland will elect a Dem Lib regardless of who. So, might as well put Manning in the seat. At least “It” will be entertaining....
Cardin is running for re-election so Manning’s candidacy will go nowhere. It is running just for the publicity.
