In a recent Government Accounting Office report to Congress, most have focused on the firearm owners who refuse to commit crimes or fall for stings created by the ATF.

Buried in the report is a chart showing how incredibly few legal gun owners are arrested each year for gun violations.

The chart shows the number of arrests made in three years, 2014, 2015, and 2016, for four crimes. The number of arrests are tiny, showing how law-abiding gun owners are.

The four crimes are these:

The chart below shows the numbers.ATF Arrests for 2014, 2015, 2016; Four Crimes, Tiny Numbers

Dealing firearms without a license average 107 arrests a year. There are about 125,000 federal firearms licenses in the United States of various types. There are about a hundred million firearm owners (30 percent of the U.S. population). The chances of a firearm owner being arrested for dealing without a license is roughly one in a million per year.

Unlawful interstate transfer of firearms averages about 18 a year. It is hardly noticeable.

Sales to prohibited individuals are in between, about 68 a year. Far less than 1 per million firearms owners.

The people who believe so rests their arguments on two things:

1. The commerce clause that grants the federal government the power to regulate commerce between the states.

2. The federal ability to levy exise taxes. The ATF was originally under the Treasury to collect taxes on firearms.

The massacre of men, women, and children at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco during the Clinton administration was instigated by the ATF on the grounds that Koresh did not pay taxes on guns he purchased.

This was the same charge that led the FBI to attack the Randy Weaver family home at Ruby Ridge, ending with the agents killing Mrs. Weaver, who was holding her baby, their twelve year old son, and the family dog. Democrats think we have forgotten their shameful crimes against American citizens, but some of us remember.

If London Horiuchi had shot an Iraqi woman holding a baby outside her home, he’d be serving life in prison.

The use of the Commerce Clause has been reversed from its original intent.

The original intent was to prevent states from enacting barriers to trade between the states.

Now the clause is used to justify the federal government creating barriers to trade between the states. The ATF is a classic example of that, only allowing guns to be sold across state lines by federally licensed dealers.

When talking about the commerce clause, it is very important that the word States is capitalized. The commerce clause was never intended to regulate commerce between The People. The People are not even mentioned in it! When it was written into the Constitution, we had The People, the States, and the Feds. It was written to prevent a State from enacting tariffs on another States goods and services. It was not meant to regulate commerce between The People. It has been purposely mis-read by the black robed terrorists to give the Feds power over everything.
