If Democrats shut down the government, President Trump should cancel the State of the Union in Congress. He can give it to the American people from the White House.
I’m betting that our President will be pleased if they do shut it down, because I believe he has already figured out how to turn their gross stupidity to his advantage BIGLY!

This thread unintentionally (I think) raises a question that is of transcendental importance :

Is the State of the Union long past its need and relevance? (in its present form)
This is a loaded question, because the uneducated, ignorant or both (UIOB) will rush to abuse and misapply it.

For the moment I'll just say that the discussions and arguments generated are more significant than the answer.
