CNN Praises MLK for Being a Socialist ‘Before It Was Cool’
Free Beacon ^ | 1.15.18 | Alex Griswold

Posted on 01/15/2018 10:43:11 AM PST by ItsOnlyDaryl

A CNN piece published Monday heralded Martin Luther King Jr.'s views on issues beyond civil rights, including his support for democratic socialism.

CNN's John Blake wrote about "Three ways MLK speaks to our time," published as a straight news article rather than an opinion piece. Blake wrote that on the holiday honoring his legacy, King's commitment to socialism, role as an "environmental hero," and congeniality towards his opponents ought to be considered alongside his racial advocacy.

Sounds like they're trying to make the same argument MLK's enemies were making in the '60s. Weird.

I’m not impressed with MLK, who represents federal government meddling unconstitutionally in our personal decisions including unconstitutional governmental interference in our freedom of choice (”discrimination”).

The Constitution prohibits the feds from interfering or meddling in our “civil rights” (Amendment I). The MLK movement turned the Constitution on its ear allowing the feds to do just the opposite of constitutional prohibitions: federal interference and meddling in our “civil rights”. MLK represents more unconstitutional federal acts and laws.

He made criticisms of capitalism, but he was NO communist.

“Can a Christian be a Communist?” ~ Martin Luther King’s Sermon delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Atlanta, Georgia Sep 30 1962

Now, let us begin by answering the question which our sermon topic raises: Can a Christian be a communist? I answer that question with an emphatic “no.”

http://kingencyclopedia.stanford.edu/encyclopedia/documentsentry/can_a_christian_be_a_communist_30_sept_1962/index.html

“So that no Christian can be a communist because communism leaves out God. It regards religion psychologically as wishful thinking, regards religion intellectually as the product of fear and ignorance. And it regards religion historically as an instrument serving the ends of exploiters. This is what communism teaches about religion. And so, in a real sense, we disagree with this because we believe that history is moved not by economic forces but by spiritual forces. [Congregation: ] (Amen, Yeah) We believe that there is a God (Pray on) in this universe (Yes sir, Yes), a God who loves his children, and a God who works through history for the salvation of man. (Pray on) Consequently, we can’t accept communism at that point.”

Being a socialist is “cool”???

That must be a whole new common-core way of spelling “stupid”

They’re loving socialism in Venezuela!!!

They ate their pets.

They ate the animals in the zoo.

They chase any animals they see so they can kill and eat them.

Let’s send our socialists to Venezuela so their people can eat them.

“We need only to look at the underlying developements [sic] of our society. There is a definite revolt by, what Marx calls, ‘the preletarian’, [sic] against the bourgeoise [sic]…. What will eventually happen is this, labor will become so power [sic] (this was certainly evidenced in the recent election) that she will be able to place a president in the White House. This will inevitably bring about a nationalization of industry. That will be the end of capitalism. . . there is a definite move away from capitalism, whether we conceive of it as conscious or unconscious Capitalism finds herself like a losing football team in the last quarter trying types of tactics to survive.” - Martin King

Any questions?

He was an anti capitalist communist outed by the FBI for that and “ extramarital affairs” and fraternization with known communists. This is a fair look at this fraud that changed his name from his legal name of “Michael King” He was not “Martin Luther “ anything , including the 3rd. He was a “doctor” even after he was proven guilty of plagiarizing his required dissertation at Boston University. They just let it pass because of his race. It is a sad commentary that the real heroes of our country have no days named after them . Today should be called “Political Correctness” day. http://kingencyclopedia.stanford.edu/encyclopedia/encyclopedia/enc_communism/

holeefrap is that a real quote from him?

I may have to rethink my views on MLK- that’s a pretty stupid statement

Capitalism, is the ONLY economic model that “permits” a privileged few to get rich, but they don’t do it by subjugating the poor, they do it by making things the poor want and are happy to pay for.

Who are these angels that would run a socialist government an create an “even flow” of economic resources?

In such a system government bureaucrats are rewarded (usually by themselves) with other people’s money. They produce nothing of value.

In capitalism, hard work and making products for satisfied customers makes you rich.

Every one who cares at all about MLK seems to be able to make of him whatever they want to see in him.

He was intensely intelligent and highly driven. In his day-to-day living, he may have said one thing or another, some of them seeming to contradict.

But at his core, he was first a preacher, and a very good one, an evangelical; second, he was a man for his times, which were times of segregation, unwarranted, immoral, hateful segregation. He did what needed doing, and he died for that.

Flawed? Yes. Someone cast the first stone.

He was a great man who would be appalled at what his memory has become, as embodied by the likes of Jackson, Sharpton and Waters.

If you put the word ‘too’’ at the end of ‘’zoo’’ you’ve got a cool poem.

He wasn't Socialist, he was Communist.

That may be the same thing now, but in those days the big difference was the connection with the USSR.
