Excerpt:
8:30 a.m. Governor posts cancellation notification to his Facebook page.
8:45 a.m. After getting authorization from FEMA Integral Public Alert and Warning System, HIEMA issued a Civil Emergency Message remotely. (Why is this time-consuming authorization needed? NOTE: The UH System was able to correct its cell phone false alarm ten minutes after sending it.-- Editor) The following action was executed by the Emergency Alert System (EAS):
1. EAS message over Local TV/Radio Audio Broadcast & Television Crawler Banner. False Alarm. There is no missile threat to Hawaii. False Alarm. There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. Repeat. There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. False Alarm.
2. Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) False Alarm. There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii.
It took the FEMA employee 38 minutes to stop laughing before he/she could say “OK turn it off” ?
they are trying to pin this on Trump.
Hawaii screwed up, and they are trying to pass the blame onto the feds.
BFL
At 8:07 a.m. a state employee of a state agency fraked up. Three minutes later, at 8:10 a.m., the U.S. Pacific Command confirmed that there was no missile launch. From then on, all delays were solely by state employees of state agencies.
Clearly, it is Trump’s fault.
Katrina all over again. Hopefully Trump won’t just sit back and take it, like Bush did.
Not mentioned:
8:07 a.m. - every cell phone in the emergency preparedness center started notifying everyone they were gonna die.
8:07 a.m. - errant emergency preparedness center employee doodied his/her pants
I saw this somewhere else but I nominate it for Quote of the Day:
“If you think Hawaii’s emergency alert system is bad, you ought to see their birth certificate system”.
Hear hear!!!
Will ping to this later.
Saturday, at 8:08 AM, they thought they were within minutes of becoming glowing plasma... Today, they are back to Trump is a racist idiot.
Just, wow...
Agreed...
Nice to send an alert, but what has the EMA done to locate or build shelters, have them stocked and train people where to go in the event of a real attack? Back in the late 50s and early 60s there were fully stocked Civil Defense shelters located all over with clearly marked signs and periodic drills so people had at least some idea where to go. Too bad we didn’t implement Reagan’s strategic defense plan 30 years ago.
Obama also just happened to be in Hawaii recently (not sure if still there)on the Paul Mitchell estate in lanikai
But it's just a coincidence, right?
What does THIS button doooo???
My son used to love that show.
