Millions at Risk From Increased River Floods Triggered by Global Warming, Study Says

According to the study published last week in the journal Science Advances, researchers with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany used computer simulations to study changing regional rainfall patterns. They found that the United States, Indonesia, Central Europe and parts of India and Africa will be particularly susceptible to dangerous flooding in the decades to come.

The researchers point out that the risk of river flooding will rise despite efforts to rein in climate change by curbing greenhouse emissions. They say the greenhouse gases already emitted in past decades have done irreversible harm. Should global warming exceed 2 degrees Celcius, communities will be unable to adapt to changes in river flooding patterns, the researchers warn.

"The time has come where mitigating future climate change must be accompanied by adapting to the climate change that we already caused," Levermann said.

Why don’t they just say “billions and billions at risk” for better effect?

To me, a study does not mean using a computer simulation which is not validated, to make predictions. It’s fake science - ie, propaganda.

I am so confused - first it was Global Cooling.

Then when evidence was shown that it wasn't cooling, but actually warming, they changed it to Global Warming.

But, when evidence arises that seems to indicate that it is just the sun, they call it Climate Change.

But, now it is Global Warming again?

Cr@p like this is why I switched to WeatherUnderground when I want weather on the Internet. (FIOS thankfully dumped The Weather Channel so it isn't a TV option for me.)

The Left is so schizophrenic. On the one hand they think there are too many people on the planet so they want population reduction. On the other hand they have their shorts in a wad because global warming might kill millions. Weird.

Because building on flood plains is profitable.

Millions who live by rivers that drain entire continents have ALWAYS been at risk of floods.

Next case.

Then they can just move to a place that is a little higher. Solution seems simple enough.

Well, couldn't they just put out Gas-X dispensing machines out in the pastures or something?

The world population has tripled in my lifetime, with the majority of that going to cities.

Most major cities are on rivers, and rivers are prone to flooding, so more are at risk, whether due to land use policies, lack of adequate flood-control policies or increased precipitation (due to global warming or cooling or too much concrete or house roofs or whatever).

True, most cities are on rivers, but also cities have more funds for public works like drainage systems to mitigate flooding than rural areas do. Most of the catastrophic floods I have seen have been around rural floodplains, not in cities (excluding silly below-sea-level New Orleans, that is).

Millions at Risk From Increased River Floods Triggered by well deserved judgement from Almighty God.

Too many need to repent of so called “liberal” immoral and disgustingly evil policies.
