Democrat Patty Schachtner won a special election for a state Senate seat in Wisconsin on Tuesday, scoring a huge upset victory for her party in a district that President Donald Trump handily captured just over a year ago.

It was the latest in a string of election victories for Democrats since Trump took office, and a sign of hope for the party that the energy from the base and frustration with the president could lead to more wins in November.

With every precinct counted, The Washington Post reported that Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County, won by 9 percentage points.

Surprising upset or blatant election fraud?

What a shame that elections swing back to such a radical party.

Surprising upset. Democrats are energized, they are fired up.

Scott Walker and Paul Ryan cannot be complacent, the Left is energized.

Scott Walker cannot be complacent, or else, he’ll be gone in 2019.

Who was the R opponent? What kind of campaign did they run, or not run?

There are bad signs out there, and many on these boards are whistling right past them.

Paul Ryan and McConnell want the Democrats to win. Figure that out and their behavior makes sense.

.... Like it or not ... the GOP is still on defense and not on offense.

This is a disaster. 2018 could be a bloodbath.

A former emergency medical technician who a decade ago appeared on the show "Wife Swap," Schachtner serves on the board of the Somerset School District and has served on the town board for Star Prairie.

Yep, a typical Democrat.

Scott Walker could go down in the Democratic wave, like Ted Strickland did in 2010’s GOP wave.

Walker can’t depend on the WOW counties to win anymore.

If the Romney/Ryan/McConnell progressive corportist wing of the GOP stays home in November it will be be a gift to the Democrats.

The Republicans won 3 out of the 4 races tonight.

In EVERY race, the Democrat overperformance was at least +20. On average, Democrat overperformance was +21.46. I believe the Democrat over in the WI race was almost +28.

Republicans had better start showing up for these elections, or we're going to get destroyed.

From what I read, a 15 year Rep incumbent resigned. District trends Red, but RATs are highly motivated at this time. The RAT 12K votes, the Republican 9900 votes. 3 rd Party Candidate got less than 300 votes

Without Hillary on the ballot I expect many Never Trumpers will stay home. They’d much rather virtue signal than defeat rampaging Demofascists.

I’m almost starting to think the Repubs are throwing the elections and upcoming mid-term election ...they want Amnesty and then they are done ... they can’t take the pressure, so they will be content to be the loyal opposition for the next few decades ...
Trump has yet to fully engage himself in one of these elections and i’m not sure why ...it will be a battle royale when he decides to get “fully involved” ...

The silver lining is that they won 3 out of 4 races.

There were four races tonight. We won 3/4, but in ALL cases the results are worrying, without regard to who the 'R' was or what kind of race he/she ran.
