CA Ammunition Controls Force Temporary Halt to Walmart Ammo Sales
Breitbart ^ | 19 Jan 2018 | AWR Hawkins

Newly implemented ammunition controls forced a temporary halt to ammo sales at 131 Walmart stores throughout California.

On January 1, 2018, Breitbart News reported that California’s ammunition controls took effect. These controls require that all ammunition be purchased in-state and that those purchases be conducted via a California-approved dealer.

Moreover, an individual must secure a “California vendor license” to be recognized as a California-approved ammunition dealer. This means that if the state is delayed in issuing the licenses dealers will necessarily be unable to sell ammunition.

Great time to open ammo stores just over the line in border states.

Why doesn’t this violate the ICC?

Besides the blatant 2A violation.

Do you expect Sleepy Jeff to do anything about it?

I’m not a lawyer.

It is puzzling to me that the transportation aspect is not mentioned.

I’m sure that CA knows what they are doing is illegal under the Constitution, but they also know about the 9th circus too.

Oh, but they require you buy your ammo only from CA approved sellers. Importation not allowed?

Headshake.

Similar law in NY. Not as restrictive. Friends drove to a cabelas in PA, and bought out the place.

The loophole with NY laws is reloading. I order all the components legally on line. Can’t buy ammo but can buy bullets/ brass/powder/primers.

Most of the Ammo I use is reloads.

No serial numbers on ammo (yet). Buy it where you want and claim it’s pre ban.

“Importation not allowed?”

It’s now a crime. Also, it is unlawful, for you to “loan ammo.” I suspect, like gun shows, the CADOJ will have “agents” prowling ammo dealers in Nevada, so if you want to buy ammo out of state, you should have “friends” there do it for you. It’s going to be interesting to see how far they are going to go with enforcement.
The other piece of this is getting nationwide reciprocity passed. The House has passed the bill but Bitch is sitting on it. Just wished he’d croak, or meet up with some sort of fatal accident or disease.

"These controls require that all ammunition be purchased in-state"

You can be sure that California will have agents making note of all cars with CA license plates in the parking lots of those ammo stores, and CA state troopers will pull them over and search them as soon as they cross the border.

Additionally, if the police search your home and discover a non-CA box of ammo whose manufacturer's batch number shows it was made after Jan 1, 2018, then they will have an open and shut conviction.

Meanwhile violent criminals have no problem getting guns and ammunition, as is the intention of the liberals in charge, so violent criminals can waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from non-violent honest citizens.

Why doesn’t this violate the ICC?

Kalifornia has decided that some of them "pesky other laws/rules/regulations" have no bearing on Kalifornia. A State that threatens to prosecute folks for obeying Federal laws has no sense of law w/o their own iron fist being the enforcer - ironic since they then bitch about using force to enforce valid laws.

Kalifornia DOJ agents are at almost every Reno gun show. We point at them and laugh. They are so bad at undercover work it is pathetic.
