HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Texas carried out the nation's first execution of 2018 Thursday evening, giving lethal injection to a man who became known as Houston's "Tourniquet Killer" because of his signature murder technique on four female victims.
Anthony Allen Shore was put to death for one of those slayings, the 1992 killing of a 21-year-old woman whose body was dumped in the drive-thru of a Houston Dairy Queen.
In 1998, Shore received eight years' probation and became a registered sex offender for sexually assaulting two relatives. Five years later, Shore was arrested for the 1992 slaying of Maria del Carmen Estrada after a tiny particle recovered from under her fingernail was matched to his DNA.
He also confessed to killing three others, a 9-year-old and two teenagers. All four of his victims were Hispanic and at least three had been raped. Jurors also heard from three women who testified he raped them.

26 years! The deterrent effect of any punishment is only served when it is swift and certain. Today our justice system offers neither.
What a waste of taxpayers’ money keeping this fool criminal alive for all those years.

That is, he should have been executed in 1999, as he was arrested in 1998 for the 1992 crimes.
Liberal do-gooders can't seem to understand that guys like that do not "get well". There is something dark and dead about their souls, and they should not be allowed to walk among us. I'm glad the POS is in hell now where he belongs.
Liberals do understand these Serial Killers. They couldn’t care less of their guilt. They only care about the money to be made off the thousands of “causes” associated with the process. The lawyers get the biggest haul.

And some of his victims families paid for his upkeep that long. Back in the day five or six months from sentencing to execution.
for those who say the death penalty does not work, anthony shore has not raped or killed anyone for 2 hrs. so far it is working.
There ought to be a statute of limitations on appeals so all appeals end in 10 years from the date of sentencing. It’s a crime against taxpayers to pay fat checks to state defense lawyers for over 20 years to keep these monsters from the justice that jurors decided was appropriate.
Of course there are no stories or pictures of his victims and their families.
He lived on Death Row longer than his victim lived on Earth. A poster boy for a quicker application of the death penalty.
