60 votes is necessary to pass with a FILIBUSTER-PROOF margin.
51 is all that is required to PASS THE BUDGET.
So, McConnell, GET IT PASSED.
If the Democrats want to shut down government, then MAKE THEM FILIBUSTER ON THE FLOOR LIKE WE USED TO.
I, for one, will tune in to hear about why they decided to shut it down, 24/7 until they run out of Senators.

Yup, it would help to make it clear who is shutting it down and why - for the illegals, not for Americans.
Uh, Turtle doesn’t have 51 votes, so this discussion is probably moot.
Manchin supports and then Pence. But I think there’s a third Republican a conservative, who is opposed.

Bills can be filibustered. To break the filibuster, you need 60 votes.
They don’t bother trying.

EXACTLY! Was the filibuster ever meant to be used by all the minority senators to shut down the whole government? Why are republicans this crazy?
They only need 60 votes to break a filibuster, not for passage. Need only 50 for passage, with the Vice President casting the tie breaking 51st vote. So 1 Republican can vote no, and all the Democrats vote no and they can still get it passed.
I would be happy if *ALL* filibusters REQUIRED somebody to actually speak. If it isn’t worth shutting down EVERYTHING for, it shouldn’t be filibustered. Requiring 60 votes should only be for the very most extreme and dangerous things, such as declaring war or raising taxes.
