Stalin created a Jewish “republic” in east Siberia, on the Manchurian border. Most of the Jews settled in it have died or moved away, so the land is available, if the Palestinians don’t mind the risk of getting eaten by a bear.
I get it that Putin is trying to maintain influence in the ME. But that is a dangerous game you are playing Valdimir.
Still there, though most of the Jewish population has left it’s still Russia’s only autonomous region. I don’t know what benefits that entails, but the don’t want to give up the status.
