MIAMI A widely circulated video that allegedly shows agents from Customs and Border Patrol detaining a woman on a Greyhound bus, after demanding from people on board proof of citizenship, has sparked indignation by many.
The bus stopped at a station in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., during its route from Orlando to Miami on Friday afternoon. The driver announced there would be a "routine" security checkpoint and that is when two uniformed agents boarded the bus and announced they were from Border Patrol, according to Florida Immigrant Coalition, a Miami-based advocacy group.

And isn't this excerpt rich?
According to the Membership Director for Florida Immigrant Coalition, Isabel Sousa-Rodriguez," incidents like these erode public trust in police and authority figures whose job is to serve and protect our communities.
So do highwaymen posing as Highway Patrolmen in unmarked cars who lurk around places where they can issue costly citations for petty offenses in the name of public safety.
And how long was her visa expired? Why are "immigrants" of any stripe (especially from $***hole countries) supposed to be a special class with more rights than mere American citizens?
Nope, it helps me trust our police and border patrol agents. Until Trump, I had no faith whatsoever in our border patrol or ICE agents.
I stated this on a previous thread that I saw this happen on a Greyhound bus back in 1979 in New Mexico.
Back in 1988, I was on an Amtrak train that was traveling along the southern border in Texas, and the train was boarded by border patrol agents. They even asked me if I was an American citizen; when I said “Yes of course”, they moved on.
I guess the citizens should have been demonstrating decades ago to get some enforcement.
We have had a succession of 4 Presidents, 2 of each party, who refused to secure the border and enforce the laws.
The illegal alien inundation was intentional.
Winning.
Agree completely!
At first glance this does appear distasteful. (show me zee papers...). There is no way to respond to loosed foreign invaders other than set up a catch net system. You can thank the previous administration 8 years of lawlessness for this response. BTW the next time you renew your drivers license, do the full verification where you get the little star on your license. Otherwise you’ll get caught up in a sweep not having certified through your state DMV that you are a legal citizen.
Outcry, sure.
A friend of mine had his medicinal marijuana confiscated on a California Greyhound. Since then, the guy rides Boltbus only for the SF-LA route.
Few years back I was stopped on Rt 93 outside the White Mountains by the Border Patrol and asked if I was an American citizen.
This has been going on for a while.
I am NOT dumping on ANY LEO types but..
Nice to see that someone in charge is finally letting the BP do its job.
If it is/was OK for BO to probe Right Wing groups etc why aren’t we running a full check on all the ‘Victim advocacy Groups who are promoting Illegals staying in the country’. (I am NOT suggesting tit for tat, I am saying if one group deserves attention then they all should)
You can bet your bippy that had these groups taken the ‘ANTI-LEFT’ side of the argument there would be daily hearings, threats of jail and full press backing.
Back in the hanging chad days when we were forced to undergo a ‘contest’ to see which ‘idiot’ rose to lead this great land of ours, I often stated that if AG had won all the Senators & Congressmen would have done is exchange notes.
Stuff of this nature shouldn’t be NEWS, it should be the result of EVERYONE doing the job that WE THE PEOPLE are paying them for.
Her visa was expired. She didnt leave as required and was arrested. Why the outcry?
Yeah right - "many"... that would be "many reporters and white liberal elites' who want these people on the voter roles... and bullying American workers into working cheaper.
Stuff it MSNBC we know where you're coming from ... and it ain't your big loving BS heart...
My daughter experienced this in Lithuania or Latvia about ten years ago when she was 20. Armed police entered the bus she was on with mean drug sniffing dogs. The dogs fingered the guy in the seat right behind her and they hauled him off. Scared her to death (and she hasn’t even watched “Midnight Express”).
That's how I feel too. Finally, these people are allowed to do the jobs they've been hired to do...
Expired visa my foot. Well, if that’s the case, she just “accidentally” over stayed her visa because she was so enamored with her grand baby, she just gets a free ride home. If she had other plans in mind, fugghedaboutit.
If oonly they asked for proof of citizenship at the polling places.
