"The number of immigrants and their U.S.-born children (under 18) on Medicaid grew twice as fast as the number of natives and their children on Medicaid from 2011 to 2013 — 11 percent vs. 5 percent. About two-thirds of the growth in Medicaid associated with immigrants was among immigrants themselves, rather than the U.S.-born children of immigrants. The increase in Medicaid enrollment among immigrants and their children can be roughly estimated as costing $4.6 billion annually. By 2013, 25 percent of immigrants and their children were on Medicaid, compared to 16 percent of natives and their children.”

Let's get it right, shall we?

"The number of illegal aliens and their U.S.-born children (under 18) on Medicaid grew twice as fast as the number of natives and their children on Medicaid from 2011 to 2013 — 11 percent vs. 5 percent. About two-thirds of the growth in Medicaid associated with illegal aliens was among illegal aliens themselves, rather than the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens. A merit-based immigration system fixes this.

Trump should deduct this figure from foreign aid—immediately.

Fair is fair.

The only government freebie they should get is a one way ticket back from whence they came.

Anytime your governor starts touting Medicaid expansion, like our morons do here in Virginia, they’re talking about getting more illegals on the dole, and taxing YOU to pay for it.

So tired of these traitors.

The thing that I don't understand about “merit” or the Australian immigrant system is how America survived immigration without it prior to the War on Poverty?

My grandparents arrived on Ellis Island and could not get off without a sponsor.

A sponsor was defined as someone who would guarantee to take care of the immigrant financially. By definition, there was no tax-payer medical care, food care, nothing. If you were really in need, you'd go to Charity Hospitals or Clinics.

Why not revert to the original plan? Merit based immigration is very short-sighted. Immigrants throughout our history came here to get opportunity, not handouts. They have been the most hardworking and dedicated Americans. They have to earn citizenship. END ALL HANDOUTS.

The real problem with this country is not immigration but EDUCATION SYSTEM that teaches our future citizens to despise everything about this country! See my tagline.

yep Canada and Australia have merit based immigration and they dont have this kind of problem.

We need to make ours more like theirs. and if dems says its racist (and you know they will) tell them to take it up with Australia and Canada.

Shouldn't the headline read The Impact of ILLEGAL Immigrants On State medicaid Budgets?
