Bring back public execution.
Yes, justice should be swift....I know a guy who was arrested in July 2016 for impersonating a federal law enforcement officer (for the second time) and never went to trial till this past December.....
His hatred for his wife was greater than his love for his children. So sad.
There was a meth lab busted a few blocks away. The guy was out and about awaiting trial on a meth lab bust from a year earlier.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
I think you took my response too seriously. Who would want to torture that wife yet again with the sound of gunshots? For HER sake, it would be the wrong thing to do.
There was a Texas man who poisoned his child’s Halloween candy to collect on the insurance (one reason parents are all hypersensitive now about what children bring home from ‘Trick or Treat’ and many won’t let their kids ‘Trick or Treat’ at all).
The judge sentenced him to die on October 31st. The ACLU stepped in and claimed this was “cruel and unusual punishment” so the date was pushed back. I would have been happy to see the guy meet his end on Halloween and also have him ingest cyanide by pixie stick to do it.
John David Battaglia murdered his 9-year-old daughter, Faith, and her 6-year-old sister, Liberty in 2001
Faith was shot three times, Liberty five.
Hours later, Battaglia was arrested outside at a tattoo shop where he had two large red roses inked on his left arm to commemorate his daughters.
It took four officers to subdue him. A fully loaded revolver was found in his truck and more than a dozen firearms were recovered from his apartment.
Battaglia told The Dallas Morning News in 2014 his daughters were his “best little friends” and that he had photos of them displayed in his prison cell.

I agree, but the most important thing here is that he is dead.

He taunted the mother of the dead girls as he was being injected. She was there to witness the execution. No sign of remorse whatsoever.
Some kinds of evil are impossible to understand.
I give it that long, because a trial takes months. Sentencing takes place. Then there needs to be an appeal process.
My thoughts on this are geared to all capital cases. I want the process to be short and over with, so sentencing can be carried out.
It isn’t really about mercy. It’s about support for the concept of a man being charged, pleading his case, and appealing a verdict.
While I do want the process tightened up, I don’t see an 18 month period to be long enough to be termed justice delayed. Even a case such as this could have a plausible denial aspect based on mental instability, hallucination, a hypnotic state, a person being coerced, or even blackmailed into the acts.
Shortening this from a 30 year process to an 18 month process isn’t exactly what I’d call being a bleeding heart for the perp. It’s actually a harsh new reality for the perps of these crimes.
I called for this new reality.
Due process is an important tenet in our nation.
This is some sick stuff. Marriage is tough even when you’ve had an 18 year crash course to get you ready for the second one.

And folks think we have too many people in prison. I don’t think we have enough in there.
I know where you are coming from.
We used to let our kids ‘Trick or Treat’ as we walked them down the street, but we would take the candy away and replace it with a variety of the things we had bought.
They thought that was so unfair.
Look, the chances of something bad happening are quite small, but we refused to take chances with their safety.
