Some Philadelphia Eagles players skipping White House visit over Trump

The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl for the first time in the franchise's history on Sunday, but several players have already indicated that they will not participate in the traditional White House visit, citing their opposition to President Donald Trump. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who also raised his fist during the National Anthem this past season, told CNN on Monday that he intends to skip the White House visit. "Nah, I personally do not anticipate attending," Jenkins told CNN's "New Day." Wide receiver Torrey Smith, who also raised his fist on the field to express solidarity with the "Black Lives Matter" movement, expressed his disapproval of Trump's war against players who take a knee during the national anthem to protest racism.

Trump, who released a statement on Super Bowl Sunday urging players to "proudly stand for the anthem," congratulated the Eagles for their historic win.

Smith and some of his teammates were some of Trump's most outspoken critics.

Eagles defensive end Chris Long, who skipped the White House visit last year when he played for last year's champs, the New England Patriots, also won't attend.

"No, I'm not going to the White House. Are you kidding me?" he said during an interview on Pardon My Take Podcast last Sunday.

Why were they invited? Why am I wasting my tax dollars on them?

What should be a great P.R. moment for the NFL, will be turned into another fiasco.

Can’t fix stupid.

Why do these players feel the need, to bend over backwards to prove that they are liberal? Especially when there’s ever dense that the liberal political statements being made by the NFL are really pissing off major portions of the fan base????

Are they mad at Trump for praising the drop in black unemployment?

Have they even been invited? POTUS Trump should just ignore them now. Let ‘em stew in their own self-importance....

It is easier to refuse to attend the White House rather THAN ADMIT ONE CANNOT PASS THE BACKGROUND CHECK TO ENTER THE WHITE HOUSE.

They'll be invited.

No reason for the Trump administration to antagonize a large contingent of Pennsylvania voters!

They aren't liberals. They are just morons who are being used by liberals as tools. I don't think the average football player could even explain the difference between a liberal and a conservative.

POTUS should not invite any championship sports teams to the White House, IMO. There are too may virtue signalers these days. No need to give them a forum. The only time a sports team should be invited to the White House is if they represent the USA in some international event. and already the USA Olympic Team is riddled with leftist virtue signalers.

Howie Long needs to kick his kid’s ass. On a side note Chris Long has so many tattoos with varying colors it’s disgusting. I keep thinking he is a walking Hep C virus!

All I can say is, thank your ancestors who were brought to this country because of their stamina, speed, strength and endurance. They had the ability to endure real human suffering through real slavery and lived real racism. What they sacrificed is drowned by these clowns who dont have the sense to honor their ancestors who would have never understood being invited to the White House as guests of honor. Shame on these ungrateful people.
