Dem Rep. Quigley: "Out Of Context" That McCabe Said No FISA Warrant Without Dossier
RCP Video ^ | 2-5-2018 | Ian Schwartz

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) said Monday that Rep. Devin Nunes worked with the Trump White House to "concoct" the recently unclassified FISA memo and that they had numerous co-conspirators.

When asked if then-FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe told the Intel Committee behind closed doors that if not for the Steele dossier no FISA warrant would have been issued, he said that was taken "out of context" and that those were "not his exact words." He called the dossier "largely accurate."

"This investigation began independently of the dossier and the fact is the dossier is largely accurate," Quigley said on Monday's broadcast of CNN's New Day. "If there's a few minor errors, so be it, but it was raw intelligence data to be begin with."

(snip)

REP. MIKE QUIGLEY (D-IL): It is false. We're not his exact words. Remember, that was classified. That the setting that we're talking about. So I have to be mindful of it. Until our memo comes out, it's hard to contradict exactly what they're saying.

So those were not his exact words. They're cherry picked. They're out of context. As Mr. Dent said, that's true for the entire two and a half page memo. I don't think either memo should have been put out because they release information that shouldn't be out there protecting sources and methods, but now that their report is out there, our memo has to go out there just to correct what they've stated in their short memo.

>>> .... the dossier "largely accurate."

Largely accurate, but not verified by our own intel?

I saw no less than 5 Democrats and/or their operatives out spin the Nunes Memo today, and this is the one probably receiving less attention.

You know, Americans are reminded of the scenario by shinning a light under the rock, and you see cockroaches scrambling every which way.

can’t hardly think of where such an explicit statement could be taken out of context.

If they had verified intelligence, why did they use a Yahoo News story to support the dossier? Why did they use the dossier at all, knowing that it was Clinton campaign opposition research?

And if they are concerned about revealing sources and methods, shouldn't they be concerned that a former British spy had co-opted their sources and methods?

James Comey told President Trump in December or January of 2016-2017 that the dossier was "salacious and unverified."

Nobody on the House intelligence committee made this statement up. This came from Comey's own testimony before the U.S. Senate committee in June of 2017.

So how does a dossier go from being verified and accurate enough to be use for a FISA warrant application in October 2016 to being "unverified" 2-3 months later?

We are missing the 800 lb. gorilla in the room, concentrating instead on banana peels. We are overlooking the fact that spying on an opposition candidate should NEVER be allowed for ANY reason.

Moreover, spying on American citizens, for whatever reason, needs to be stopped.

"If they had verified intelligence, why did they use a Yahoo News story to support the dossier? Why did they use the dossier at all, knowing that it was Clinton campaign opposition research? "

OKAY. Let's see the evidence that was used to get the warrant then, eh?

“...protecting sources and methods...”

Pathetic lie, closely akin to “I can’t comment on that due to an ongoing investigation”.

There are no sources and methods because this was not cloak and dagger. The source was Hillary Clinton and the method was deception.

Does anyone think that Nunes would be so stupid as to manufacture lies out of whole cloth when the source material can be declassified on notice? And will the democrat memo contain information at complete odds with the first memo? For example: The dossier was verified? The dossier was not used at all? McCabe swore that he did not sign any warrants? etc. Or, best of all, the judge was in fact told the dossier was opposition political BS and still signed off on it.

There are so many ways to interpret McCabe's statement. One of them is that the FBI would not have even approached the FISC without the dossier attached. This has nothing to do with the dossier adding heft to the application, just a simple statement of FBI intention to burnish the dossier with help from FISC. Has nothing to do with Page, and everything to do with the dossier.

No way to prove it, but that is perfectly in line with the gist of McCabe's testimony. If the FBI doesn't apply for a FISA warrant, none will issue.

Based on the way the issue is presented, we leap to the conclusion that the "issue/no issue" decision is for the judge, and depends on the contents of the dossier. But maybe the "issue/no issue" decision is earlier in the process, at the FBI/DOJ.

So the FBI and the idiot left are claiming that we should spy on an opposition campaign that claims Trump had hookers pee all over him in Russia. We get the Secret US Court to go along.

Sure, why not.

Liberals, your day in hell will be here on earth.
