On Wednesday morning, NBC’s Today show and ABC’s Good Morning America recited identical liberal talking points as both broadcasts warned viewers that the U.S. was on the verge of looking like world’s worst “authoritarian regimes” if the Pentagon followed through on President Trump’s desire to hold a military parade in the nation’s capital.
“Some unusual marching orders from President Trump to the Pentagon. He wants a massive parade to highlight the country’s military strength,” fretted Today co-host Hoda Kotb. “But as NBC’s Hans Nichols explains, that request is not sitting well with some lawmakers,” she added.

I disagree with the trumpeter. Beef up memorial Day or Fourth of July of Vet’s day. We don’t need another parade. Even in Rome you had to kick someones ass to get a parade.
Bad optics, even though the intentions may be good.

Using the FBI and Intel Agencies to rig elections makes us look ‘Authoritarian’.
Of course they do... but let’s examine those countries that typically do these kinds of things? France? Statist. NK, Russia, other communist countries? Statist. We honor our military in all sorts of ways and I don’t think that’s an issue.
That said I can’t help but like Trump more for it. My thinking is that The Donald is a product of an era that was proud of our military for what it did in WWII. I know I am. As such I trust his motives and don’t feel he’s in any way trying to be authoritative... he’s trying to demonstrate how proud he is of our troops.
As someone posted earlier... it gives the media, Never Trumpers and other haters opportunities to advance a narrative. That’s not necessarily a reason to not do it...
My thinking is he would better serve the military by really playing up the existing military-themed holidays, visiting our troops in the most visible ways possible, and funding our military.

GOOD! It’s time the U.S. rattled it’s rockets and the people get behind Trump to let the world know, we are no longer “Mr. Nice Guy”. There are a lot of “ass kicking’s” needed out there.
I remember JFK’s inauguration. I saw 5 ton trucks with Honest John missiles driving by the reviewing stand in the background while Huntley and Brinkley pontificated
It doesn’t have to be defence porn, IOW tanks tearing up DC’s potholed streets.
It could have representations of military personnel throughout our history, marching bands, flyovers...
I think this could be great. I hope we do it.
I just think the money could be better used elsewhere as far as defense spending goes.
