N.Y. Lawmakers Want to Make Tide Pods Look Less Edible

New York state lawmakers want Tide to stop making its pods look so appealing. Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas and Sen. Brad Hoylman proposed a bill Tuesday that would require Proctor & Gamble to individually wrap each pod and add warning labels to them, reports NBC New York. The lawmakers also want the pods to be made less colorful, claiming that their bright colors “can make them appealing to young children, adults with dementia, and those looking to take part in the internet trend known as ‘Tide Pod Challenge.’ That said, don’t expect a change anytime soon. Proctor & Gamble responded to the lawmaker’s request by saying that additional packaging would cause a tremendous impact on the environment without actually preventing ingestion by children. It went on to say that studies show that colorful packaging does not increase the likelihood that children will ingest dangerous products.

I say, BRING BACK JOE CAMEL!!!/s

Seriously, when we were kids we'd be laughing our you-know-whats off, I still do, whenever Moe whacked Curley in his head with a hammer, or when Elmer Fudd chased Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck around with a shotgun, or those times the Coyote would blow himself up or fall off of cliffs trying to catch the Road Runner, WITHOUT those annoying disclaimers warning us not to try this at home. As immature as we were we still had the sense to realize they were just gags.

Make them look like brussels sprouts. No kid will eat those.

Remember watching Wiley Coyote and the Road Runner ? They didn't need to have a don't try this at home advisory back then because we weren't idiots.

Does the GOVERNMENT really have to figure that out.

Good grief, first of all, the darn dishwashing pods don’t even do a good job on the dishes so they had to make them eye appealing.

But really, maybe Cascade and Finish can figure it out?????

Fake news!

I used to drop anvils off the roof on my little brother's head all the time.

Again, people are not taking the Tide Pod Challenge because they think this is candy! What would be the challenge of, “Look! I’m eating some Starburst! Can you believe it?!” It’s a challenge because it’s inedible and people seeking a few thumbs ups on YouTube have found that a good way to do that is by being a moron.

Maybe if critics had just praised his damn paintings, he wouldn’t have started the Roadrunner Holocaust.

These were launched in 2012 and only now it is a problem. You could add a bitterant but many products already have those and people still ingest them.

Put a picture of Rosie O’Donuts on one side and a picture of Whoopi Goldberg on the other side.

“...or fall off of cliffs...”

I seem to recall some freeper stories of putting on a cape to gain Superman powers and then jumping off the roof to fly.

If it was little kids accidentally eating them that would be one thing - but even then - don't the parents have a clue? Although to be honest, I'm pretty sure I never spelled out to our little kids that the bottle of bleach wasn't a jug of water. I guess it was more of a blanket policy of keeping all of that kind of stuff out of their reach, and the laundry room was pretty much a no-go zone for them when they were little.

Don’t have any Tide pods, but dishwasher Finish powerballs look kind of tasty.

Reminds me of the short-lived fad of huffing Pam spray in the 1970s that did have some fatalities.

This is the most idiotic generation to come along.
It’s not like older ones were, say, huffing Bactine, you know.
Oh, wait ...
