Maryland will sue the Trump administration for capping state and local tax (SALT) deductions in its new federal tax law, the state’s attorney general said Thursday.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed by President Trump last year contains a provision capping SALT deductions at $10,000, and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh said residents across the heavily-taxed state stand to take a hit as a result.
“By eliminating the SALT deductions, Trump’s tax bill will jack up taxes for more than half a million Marylanders,” Mr. Frosh, a Democrat, said in a statement announcing his intent to sue the Trump administration. “It is an attack on state sovereignty and an attempt to cripple our ability to educate our kids, protect the Chesapeake Bay, and build the infrastructure that Maryland needs to be competitive in the world economy.”

If they have to sue you, they are losing. I always thought it was terrible optics when Republicans talked about doing it over one Obama outrage after another.
Spend less or raise your taxes. What’s so hard about that? The state discount program is over. You don’t see southern states complaining, do you?
Of course he will. The lunatic asylum in Annapolis stupidly gave the ultra liberal attorney general unfettered authority to sue the federal government without input from the republican governor.
Do i understand this correctly? Maryland is suing because the Federal Tax bill net results in some residents paying more in taxes?
If successful, that precedent would mean that Texas could stop the next Rat Congress / President from raising any taxes, ever?

Well if the are suing the Trump Administration they are suing the wrong people are Tax laws are passed by Congress.
If the state of Maryland didn’t overspend, it wouldn’t have to have such high state taxes. Why should people from other states have to subsidize Maryland’s taxes?
I don’t understand. I thought the left always said they wanted to close tax loopholes and make the rich pay more taxes. Well, they got what they wished for.
Trump didn’t write the law.
It’s a law. The only recourse is attempting to find unconstitutionality.

Any and Every Lawyer that even files a case like this should be Disbarred Permanently on the Spot.
The US CONGRESS Passed Tax Legislation and the President Signed it. That is how our Constitution works.
It’s not “Trump’s tax bill”.
It’s the People’s Law, passed by our Representatives in Congress assembled.
You can’t sue the President over Congress passing a law.
This should end in a SCOTUS decree that the states have NO RIGHTS to Federal money.
This would be a good thing.
