Republicans got rid of it during Clinton’s term. Republicans never look long term.

It was declared unconstitutional 20 years ago in Clinton v NYC. I actually agree with that decision even though I love the idea of a LIV. The constitution never gave the president the power to strike out "line items" from legislation passed by Congress.

The L.I.V SHOULD be something a Constitutional convention addresses, along with term limits and other things.

The Line item veto was passed in the 90’s after the Republicans took over congress. Bill Clinton signed it into Law and the Supreme Court struck it down quickly.

I have not heard anyone bring it up again.

Ruled unconstitutional in 1998 - Clinton v. City of New York (524 U.S. 417).
