I disagree with a lot of people here on this topic. I actually don’t think people should “give a sh*t about the national debt”. I sort of liken it to the right-wing’s version of climate change. Whereas the left listens to “scientists” who tell them that unless we correct our profligate ways, “we’re all doomed”, the right listens to the green lampshade types who say the same thing. Maybe it’s actually the case that one is true and the other is false, but I’ve not seen any evidence of that.
So far, after 40 years of listening to the lampshades, the world has not ended.
Besides, if our loans get called, cut the welfare to pay for it.
