During an increasingly ugly meeting, the companys CCO refused to answer whether money laundering allegations were true and blamed staff for undermining the business.
During a private meeting with editors this week, a top Newsweek executive blamed his own journalists for the magazines recent turmoil and refused to answer whether the company committed financial crimes.
Newsweek Media Group interim Chief Content Officer Johnathan Davis took questions from editors for nearly 90 minutes on Wednesday, according to recording obtained by The Daily Beast, about firings and investigations that have engulfed the company.
Last month, the Manhattan District Attorneys Office raided Newsweek Media Groups headquarters in New York as part of an ongoing investigation into the company for potential financial crimes. On Monday, Newsweek Media Group fired editor in chief Bob Roe, executive editor Ken Li, and reporter Celeste Katz, who reported on the raid and recent allegations that the company engaged in traffic and advertising fraud.
[The raid] led to the BuzzFeed article about the fake clicks, which you orchestrated, breaking news editor Gersh Kuntzman said. I’m hoping all the msm comes tumbling down. Bring back real journalism.
Hahaha! Implosion in progress.
Now you’ve done it.
you’re attacking Mumblebumbler’s sick dream of propping up the legacy press forever.
They should all quit and go work for the reputable NYT.
It takes a fair amount of dishonesty and immorality to be able to consistently print lies and half-truths and call them “news.” Should we be surprised at allegations of money laundering and so forth against known liars?
BOL! Best line of the night on this funny non fake news story!
“You need to tell us that because we cant work here if youre a liar.”
Oh the irony of that statement!
Newsweak faux journalists are concerned about a lying boss.
So what is the definition of journalism this week?
Funniest line ever.
When your company is bought for $1 it generally is not a sign of good things to come.
Good to see that Gersh Kuntzman has his PTSD under control for now.
That evil AR15 done scarred the boy for life.
Now, THAT piece he wrote was hard hitting journalism, man.
(and they wonder why they are dying)
Especially coming from our old shooting buddy Gersh.
Is a company ‘reputable’ if it’s reputation is generally sh*tty??
Well, hes lying to THEM. They are totally ok with all of them lying to everyone else.
How rich! Lying journalists can't somehow work with a lying owner.
“breaking news editor Gersh Kuntzman said.”
If you recall, Kuntz Gershman was the guy who wet his pants in fright the first time he fired an AR-15.
What is it like to fire an AR-15? Its horrifying, menacing and very very loud
this is awesome that newsweek is imploding internally as well as probably being an actual criminal enterprise given the completely fabricated garbage that they’ve continuously attacked Trump with.
