The Israeli military has shot down an Iranian drone that infiltrated the country and has struck Iranian targets in Syria that launched it, in what the military called a "severe and irregular violation of Israeli sovereignty".
The military said its planes faced heavy anti-aircraft counter fire from Syria that forced Israeli pilots to abandon an F-16 jet that crashed in northern Israel.
It said the pilots were injured and evacuated to a hospital. Sirens sounded in northern Israel as a result of massive Syrian fire.
Explosions could be heard in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley region near the Syrian border.
Israeli military spokesman Jonathan Conricus said Iran was "responsible for this severe violation of Israeli sovereignty".
The military said it was "monitoring events and is fully prepared for further action".
Syrian state TV quoted a military official saying Syrian air defences hit more than one Israeli plane.

Sorry, but Blame the Bushes doesn’t work here. Bush 41 responded to a very real threat to a very needed oil supplier. Bush 43 killed a man whose regime was actively doing all it could to kill Americans.
Understanding Obama in 2001 when he told an audience that WTC was our fault, through the 2009 Great Apology Tour through the 2016 Iranian nuc deal is very easy. He gave aid and comfort to our enemies at every opportunity.

The pilots are ok , they ejected over Israeli airspace .
Israel just responded to that by sending in more jets and taking out 12 Syrian air defense systems . (Damascus and surrounding area )

Israel has defined Iran as its primary enemy leading to this inevitable confrontation.
The Syrian Civil War was part of an anti-Iran strategy using the jihadists of Saudi Arabia, another adversary of Iran.
Syria’s Assad targeted as an ally of Iran to isolate Iran from Syrian bases-Hezbollah in Lebanon.
A strategy that would help Israel’s security interests.
Russia threw a monkey wrench into the plan and during the last Winter Olympics, there just happened to have been the overthrow of a pro-Russian government in Ukraine with all the fallout.
Now we have Winter Olympics again and.......
Christians lived in Assad’s Syria with no trouble.
Did you miss ISIS mass murdering them and blowing up their churches?
I support MY country and MY President. And holistic strategy under Trump which is: annihilate ISIS and then then rein Assad and his ilk in. Kinda like WWII to Cold War: first fight Nazism, then onto the Commies.
