WASHINGTON—The U.S. Navy is investigating at least a dozen U.S. sailors based in Japan, some serving aboard the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, for suspicion of buying, selling, and using LSD, ecstasy and other drugs, U.S. Navy officials said Friday.

The Navy also is probing whether U.S. sailors were using the internet to buy or sell drugs or were distributing them to local Japanese residents.

The Navy first learned about allegations of widespread drug sales on Feb. 6, when it received a tip about a petty officer third class using drugs, the officials said. He was subsequently detained and released, they said.

weren't those ships that crashed stationed in Japan?....

our so called military is a mess...and you can betcha that a whole lot of these creeps will use the PTSD route to get big old fat tax free pensions for the rest of their lives...

knowing what my father faced in WW2 as well as all the other GI's in the war, the fact that at least 20% of military today get PTSD disability galls me....its pure ridiculousness....

LSD, ecstasy

So they don't use meth, a local favorite in Japan.

Generally, the experts say that LSD will not appear in your urine sample in roughly 24 to 72 hours after use. Meth is a bigger problem because it’ll still be there 72 hours later, and it disappears usually around about the 6th day, in your urine.

Cannabis was always the easy one to detect because it stood around in your system for a minimum of seven days, and in some cases....on up to 30.

It doesn’t surprise me that LSD is more of the drug of choice.

Must be pure LSD instead of being laced with an upper - back in the day they used small amounts of strychnine...minute amounts take you up and bigger doses can put you down.....ahhhh, the drug culture.

Standard drug tests don’t detect LSD.

Would it make LSD stay longer in the system?

Back in the day our company had a little marijuana problem so our safety officer got a rumor started that grapefruit juice would mask it. Then he just went around and tested offices with grapefruit juice around. Cleaned the problem up in a hurry. Kind of funny actually.

“So they don’t use meth, a local favorite in Japan.”

Do the Norks supply the LSD and ecstasy like they do the meth? Nork meth smuggled on Russian ships was a big problem when I lived there many years ago.

I still maintain that PTSD is fake, it’s made up pyschobabble, just another way for sharks to make money.

Rely on God, I survived three tours in one of the most aggressive units the world has ever seen, and I’m fine.

God is my strength. His Word, his son dying for me, that is what everyone needs to be focusing on.

I think what we need to do is send you into high intensity combat and see how you react to months of wathcin your buddies killed, while reeling in the stench of decaying human flesh.

I have no idea what line you are trying to pull, but you are full of it. I had a FIL who suffered from it as a result of being trapped for several days behind Japanese lines in Burma in WWII. It wasn't an act. He wasn't on welfare. He was a standup guy who worked all his life at a respectable profession. Believe me, he did not want to suffer from it.

Knowing many WWII/Korean war vets who were solid Christian men- great husbands, fathers and grandfathers, I wondered how they made it through horrible times at war, all they saw....and how they could be ‘normal’ after that.

They came back and wanted a better world and knew Christ was the only way. Serving Him and seeing all the good and love put their experiences in the background- Satan, behind me. Same with women who are raped and abused. Almost everyone could have PSTD really!

We are saved by grace through faith! Jesus can and did heal everything brought to Him. That is not done these days. We medicate and hand out disability, Teddy bears and animals. Just adult safety blankets.

No - LSD is neutral as far as being an upper/downer - it gave one a boost of energy to "enhance" the experience...

I know this because I read a lot....."I tried that LSD stuff but never swallowed"....

Looks to me like they're choosing drugs that aren't screened for in the Navy's drug-testing program:

Synthetic Cannabinoids
Marijuana
Cocaine
Amphetamine/Methamphetamine
Designer Amphetamines (MDMA, MDA)
Heroin
Opiates (Codeine, Morphine, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone)
Benzodiazepines (α-OH-Alprazolam, Lorazepam, Nordiazepam, Oxazepam, Temazepam)

Navy Drug Screening Labs

There hasn’t been real LSD on the streets since the 90s. The stuff today is crap filled with a bunch of adulterants. Kids today have no idea what the real stuff was like. There’s nobody around making it anymore. They’re all dead, in prison, or retired.

Will take you at your word - I tried it 3 times when I was much younger in the ‘70s and while the experience was different than anything else, it wasn’t the type thing that I found compelling.

Well, if they would get rid of the draft and go to an all volunteer military, we wouldn’t have this kind of problem with our sailors in Asia. /s
