Miami Catholic school did the right thing (Firing Lesbian Teacher who "got married")

Once again, the left is expressing outrage over "politically-incorrect" Catholic teaching and practice.

From the Miami Herald:

First-grade teacher Jocelyn Morffi lost her job at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School on Thursday, the day after she returned from her [same-sex] wedding [sic] in the Florida Keys[.] ...

After judges in Florida lifted the state's ban on same-sex marriage [sic] in 2015, Archbishop Thomas Wenski sent a memo to employees reminding them of the Archdiocese of Miami's policy.  All employees, including school teachers, are considered church representatives and are expected to abide by Catholic teachings, the memo said.  Any conduct 'inconsistent' with that could result in disciplinary action, including termination.

Unfortunately, some of the parents are upset over the firing, perhaps due to their misguided sense of compassion or ignorance of authentic Catholic teaching, which prohibits treating relationships between members of the same sex as marriage and, in certain areas such as education, adoption, and the military, allows for sexual orientation to be used as a means of just discrimination.

Could Morffi have continued to teach at the school if she hadn't called herself married to her lesbian partner?  Probably.  The archdiocese basically has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.  However, since marriage is a public statement, she's "out" in more ways than one.

Also, what occurred at this Miami Catholic school shouldn't be limited only to same-sex couples.  If a teacher in a Catholic school openly supports abortion, euthanasia, or unmarried sex, he should be fired as well.

I just hope school and archdiocesan officials don't cave to the pressure of the anti-Catholic left and reinstate her.

“...the day after she returned from her [same-sex] wedding [sic] in the Florida Keys[.]”

I love the “sic” in an otherwise correct sentence!

Or the anti-Catholic Pope.

Would there be the same outrage if it were a muslim school?

I didn’t think so...

This area is about 65% self-declared “hispanic.”

Prediction: after the initial MSM ginned-up outrage, nothing will happen.

People are going absolutely nuts about this story. Its in her contract to not do this, more than likely. So they have no case.

I, though not a Roman Catholic, but Presbyterian, agree with Archbishop Thomas Wenski .

There are three threads about costly social media posts today - this one, one about a teacher being fired in New Jersey, and one about a waitress at Outback complaining about the lack of tip from a megachurch food order. In all three cases the person in question did something that annoyed their employer and in all three cases they paid the price for it.

If you want to post on Facebook then either don't include your employer in your profile or don't tick off your boss. Simple as that.

If she’d kept her perversion private she’d still be employed. They just feel compelled to shove it in everyone’s face.

Anti-discrimination laws destroyed our right to free association. Individuals and private businesses and clubs should have the right to discriminate on anything they choose, including race, ethnicity, sex, or anything else. Government is the only entity that must not be allowed to discriminate. Americans have allowed government control over their lives by means of these laws.
