Media Focus on Mass Shootings Distracts from the Bigger Problem

Last year, we saw yet another knee-jerk reaction by liberals to the supposed "gun problem." The Dems seized on the mass killing that occurred in Las Vegas as an opportunity to push for more restrictive gun laws and an outright ban on firearm accessories.

By year's end, cooler heads had prevailed, and most of this legislation did not make it through. On the contrary, December of 2017 saw the House approving the concealed carry reciprocity bill that will allow for citizens with concealed carry permits in one state to carry outside that state.

While that might sound like good news for law-abiding gun owners, it's not all wine and roses just yet. The bill will have to pass the Senate and then go before the president before it becomes law, and the libs are already wringing their hands, insisting that it violates states' individual rights to pass and enforce their own laws.

And still nothing about investigating the extremely high correlation of mass-murderers being on antidepressants.

I’ve been close to someone who “went off their meds”. It’s not the being on it that’s the problem, it’s the explosion that occurs when a few doses are missed, and the subsequent week of chaos whilst re-stabilizing back onto consistent doses. Seems one goes from artificial tranquility, rockets back thru depression, skips “flight” and goes full-on into “fight”. ...from which one may not be surprised sometimes involves, well, lots of killing.

The lefts selective appreciation for states rights.

I think I’m going to lobby the Virginia legislature to pass a law stating that drivers licenses from California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Massachusetts, will no longer be valid in Virginia - even for those who are just passing through.

I can use my state issued driver’s license in any state, and automobiles are far more dangerous than guns. Any moron can get a driver’s license. One has to at least pass a NICS check before getting a firearms license.

If states rights are so important to the left, why does one federal law deem abortion legal in all 50 states..?

Yup.

You have the right to kill your unborn child but not to defend your life,

To liberals, some rights are more equal than others.

But same sex marriage licenses are valid in 50 states?

***and an outright ban on firearm accessories.***

Remember when the 1968 Gun Control Act was passed? One of the laws was against the import of foreign military material.

One of the first to get arrested was an antique gun dealer in Tulsa who “violated” the law by importing....musket flints.

Yeah. We just arrived back stateside with Berettas we had purchased at the NATO exchange after it passed. Leave the ship? Uh, no. Nobody was sure what all the ramifications to the new law were so I didn’t get mine for several months after I reported to a new duty station.
