Lissa Lucas, a candidate in this years Democratic primary for West Virginia delegates, was escorted out of the Charleston state house because she read a list of House members and how much they pocketed from oil and gas companies.
Newsweek reported that the meeting was about a proposal, the Co-Tenancy and Majority Protection Act, or H.B. 4268, that would allow these companies to drill on minority mineral owners land without their consent.
The report said that some landowners worry that the bill will allow these companies to drill on their properties for the minerals located below.
The West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association tweeted a poll that showed the majority of Republicans and Democrats in the state approve the bill.
Lucas approached the rostrum Friday and, right off the bat, she corrected the person who introduced her and who mispronounced Lissa.
Lucas went on to claim that there would be no jobs created by the proposal and the only delegates in favor are in the oil companies pockets.
I have to keep this short, because the public only gets a minute 45, while lobbyists can throw a gala at the Marriot with whiskey and wine and talk for hours with the delegates, she said.

Ha! Amazing what a person can do in a minute or two
Why didn’t she read who donates to Democrats? A hell of a lot more disturbing lot than “oil and gas companies,” I bet.
As far as I can tell from the article (unless I missed something) she read the names of all members who had donors in the oil and gas industry. I would presume that included both parties.
Based on the article only, I kind of like what she did. I’m sure if she’s running as a Democrat I’d disagree with her on plenty of other things, but I’m willing to go out on a limb here and say this one thing seems ok to me.
I’m all in favor of truth. She got a lot of it out there. (Possibly selective is my main caveat.)
its worth watching the video - very clear corrupt pols caught in the act and then using armed costumed state employees to beat her down.
Our founders would hang their heads for shame
Freedom of speech. Lobbying is the fundamental application of freedom of speech. If the gubmint shuts down lobbying, just burn rest of the amendments.
Lobbying is one thing...bribing is another.
It is weird to suggest, much less believe, that someone spending that much money can be influenced by $1,000 (the maximum amount allowed per election cycle).
The reality is that the PACs that donate money directly donate to those who are ALREADY supportive of their position, and don't donate to those who are ALREADY opposed to their position. If you were going to "buy" political support, wouldn't it logically be the other way around?
I know one well-off candidate who accepted $300 from an oil and gas PAC that liked his public statements, and was then the victim of $10,000 of ads from Democrats trying to destroy him by pretending that he had been "bought" by such a trivial amount of money.
So I hope everyone can see left-wing political propaganda for what it is.
I doubt she was escorted out for that reason only, she must have violated some other rule.
I own some oil and gas stocks, if I donate a dollar to her will she read her name?
Planned Parenthood donates to Democrats and the Democrats donate to Planned Parenthood. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.
