Rand Paul Considers Sponsoring Hard-Line House DACA Bill

As Senate debates immigration reform, Kentucky senator pushes work visas instead of unqualified grants of citizenship

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Tuesday he’s considering offering a hard-line House immigration bill in the Senate during this week’s open debate over former President Barack Obama’s quasi-amnesty program.

The debate kicked off Monday, but Paul noted Tuesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that all of the proposals extend amnesty far more widely than the Securing America’s Future Act sponsored in the House last month by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Rep. Rául Labrador (R-Idaho), and others.

Unlike the proposals discussed so far in the Senate, the Goodlatte bill offers work visas — but not a path to citizenship — for the 690,000 young adult illegal immigrants currently enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

“That is something that we ought to consider in the Senate as well,” Paul said. “But interestingly, there hasn’t been anybody talking about bringing up the Goodlatte-Labrador bill in the Senate. So we’re discussing that in our office, whether or not we ought to put that forward as an alternative.”

Republicans in the Senate are split between a more liberal immigration approach, championed by Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), and a conservative alternative by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) that includes more significant restrictions on future legal immigration.

Apparently the current Senate bill does not end Chain Emigration or the Visa Lottery (just ‘reforms’ them), nor does it end DACA. It does supply money for a border barrier and for more enforcement.

So this is like all the other previous Immigration bills - the first parts (immigration) get enacted and the second parts (barriers and enforcement) never happen or only halfheartedly before they are killed entirely. And so the flood continues.

Pres. Trump has positioned himself as the key to any immigration bill. It would be political suicide for him to betray his constituents on this signature promise. I’m OK with a deal, but only if has huge immediate effect along with an assured long-term strategy. I have faith this can be obtained, especially with tools like E-verify: self-deportation is the answer.

Just the fact that Republicans are split between a sensible fellow R’s immigration bill and that of a far left Democrat like Durbin makes me want to puke.

Follow Grassley you idiots! The people spoke on what they want in regards to immigration when they elected the POTUS. Errr I’m so sick of the dang immigration subject. For goodness sake it’s not that hard! Pass a bill that puts American citizens best interests at heart it’s not that hard to figure it the right thing to do!

never expect the senate, led by the quasi-commie turtle, to do the right thing, unless it puts more money in his pocket.

The question here is, if a really stinky bill is passed and vetoed, whether dumbocraps and traitorous rinos can override in the house. If it comes to that, my bet's on Pres. Trump.

So, if you like your illegal alien, you can keep your illegal alien.

More like: "So, if you don't like your illegal alien, you can keep will be forced to keep and pay for your illegal alien."

Only unlike Zero’s pronouncement, this time it is the truth.

AMNESTY

and will incentivize

millions more

to come for their amnesty.

Given that two federal judges have ruled that Trump cannot end Obama’s executive order based DACA the issue should be consider solved, and unlike the Senate and House Dems those liberal judges didnt have to offer anything in return.
(no Wall, no family based immigration,...)

Dems say anything lib judges rule is the constitution so call them out on that.

Go for it, Rand Paul! I’m listening to CSPANs Washington Journal. Across the political spectrum, callers were overwhelming in favor of hardline solutions to the problem. There were also comments saying that EVerify violation penalties should be strengthened

We should stop calling them illegal immigrants and start calling them invaders because that is what they are. They are conquering our land and making slaves out of Americans.

Immigration deal isn’t a good idea. The courts will block the wall. Any amnesty or legalization process should be tied to 100% completion of the wall and that shouldn’t be negotiable.

I can’t understand why the Rats are hell bent on running on DACA in the midterms. This is the issue that got Trump elected. Unless you’re a RINO weasel why wouldn’t you want Trump there to help you run against a DACA Rat?

Yes they are invaders, but the ones making slaves out of their fellow Americans are the Democrats and RINOs and more importantly the 62 million or so in places like NY, MA, CA, MD, etc. who vote for them.

The invaders simply enjoy the free cotton we're forced to pick for them.
