A flurry of earthquakes has hit Earth's Pacific plate over the past week, renewing fears a massive tremor is on the way after four disasters jolted the region in January.
Quakes have hit near Japan, Guam and Taiwan around the planet's so-called 'Ring of Fire', a horseshoe-shaped zone that is a hotbed for tectonic and volcanic activity.
Some have suggested the frequency and proximity of the tremors are signs of a bigger earthquake to come.
Experts have claimed events around the Ring of Fire are rarely linked and that in most cases adjacent disasters are a coincidence.

I hope Guam doesnt tip over and fall in the a burning ring of Fire...
The ones near here woke me up last night. We’ve had 5 earthquakes in this area in the past 7 days
It’s the Grand Solar Minimum, and there is more seismic activity and volcano eruptions during these periods.
Recently, I have noticed that very often, when there is an earthquake on the west coast, there is one within about a week - often in Oklahoma.
I click on the earthquake link quite often. There’s A LOT of SHAKING going on.
There is always a lot of shaking going on. Its because of plate tectonics. But when that completely stops and all the volcanoes go completely dormant, thats when we really have to worry.
This past week I noticed the California coastline was relatively quiet as well as Oregon and Washington.
I complain bitterly about the incompetent government here, but one thing they’ve done is after the super typhoon in 2001 they have really enforced the typhoon, tsunami and earthquake building codes. You can’t get homeowners insurance here if your house doesn’t have a concrete roof and typhoon shutters.
We had a 7.8 magnitude quake 3 or 4 years ago and it was no big deal. Nobody died and only a few people were hurt, mainly in traffic accidents. A 7.8 in So. Cal would have been international news.
Our house has 8 inch thick reinforced concrete walls and an 8 inch pour concrete roof. I guess that means we are also safe from a nuclear strike?
Meh. A week of being "relatively quite" means nothing.
Only if your typhoon shutters are closed...
I hope Guam doesnt tip over and fall in the a burning ring of Fire...
What are the Chinese building in the South China Sea ,LOL
I nominate San Fran & surrounds.
Set the map to world wide and the settings to 1-day 2.5+. This morning it showed no activity in Euro / African and Middle East; 90%+ was on the Pacific rim. The volcano on Bali is quite active (Mt Agung).
Are LA and SF finally going to break off and slide into the sea?
Nobody knows - but it’s a good way to keep us all trembly.
LOL!
