Because the Craps don't give a damn about peoples lives. If they did they would enforce immigration laws, build the wall and stop chain migration, but they don't. Why? Because the Democrats know that outside of NYC, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Seattle, LA and SF that gun control is a political loser. And it gives them an election issue to run on.

They want to try to use media lies and pressure to get the Republicans to introduce gun control measures themselves. The Republicans have held firm so far, but never underestimate their ability to be cowed by fear of the media.
