he police officer assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resigned Thursday, under investigation for failing the enter the building as a gunman opened fire and killed 17 people.
Sheriff Scott Israel said Deputy Scot Peterson should have “went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.”
Peterson, 54, came under scrutiny after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz entered the school with an AR-15 rifle and killed 14 students and three educators on Valentine’s Day.

Was he on the other side of the 45-acre campus, or was he just screwing off, or did he freeze and go the other way?

Sheriff should have arrested him on one of the 39 visits to the kid’s house. That’s where the blame should fall.

He was standing outside the building where the shooting was happening and there is reportedly video of this.

The armed SRO declined to go into the building where the shooting was occurring. According to reports, they have video of him standing outside.
The shooting took what a few minutes..the guy could have been at the other end of the school...would he heard the shots if he was out side and a fire alarm going of..
think the sheriff is CYA..
He was a long time respurce cop....figured he didn’t have to do anything except be friends with the teens

Was he armed or unarmed? If he was unarmed, what was he supposed to kill him with, a pencil?
The school is huge. He probably couldn’t find Cruz in time to save anyone. Remember, Cruz sneaked out with the rest of the students exiting.
