A New Jersey teen accused of firing the shots that claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy and wounded his mother was captured in Florida late Sunday, authorities said.
A four-day manhunt led to the arrest of 18-year-old Karon Council in the coastal city of Pompano Beach, about 1,200 miles from his Neptune Township home, according to Monmouth County prosecutors.
During that search, a 16-year-old accomplice was apprehended Thursday at Neptune High School.

The given name Karon was all I needed to know about this story.
18 is not a teen. There’s a magic day, one’s birthday in which everything changes. He’s now eligible for execution for his crimes, or at least a lifetime of staring at a gray painted cinder block wall.
This story leaves out some critical information - namely, when and why was the ten-year-old boy captured in Florida?
Yup.
The Sons of Obama: Killing people at a rate seven times that of non-Sons-of-Obama.
18teen and 19teen were teen ages when I grew up, has something changed.
They are not children but they are teens as in teenagers
As my accountant sez, numbers dont lie.
10 year old was the victim. The 18 year perp was a gang member. That is why he had the resources to flee the state so quickly.
See, see! Them bump stock thingamajigs again! Ban them! Ban them all!
Teenager was used in the title for the reader to think it was some dumb 14 year old, not an 18 year old adult murderer. 18 is a legal adult whatever your accountant says
Gangs have safe haven in Broward county...
You didnt say that in # 3 you said 18 was not a teen and you were wrong as 18 is a teen and my accountant along with most children that no how to count are correct
Teenager in the title was used to denote the perps age bracket, teenager, which is someone between 13 and 19 years of age.
Okay.
It WAS a joke. OI was making fun of the wording/structure of the headline.
I get it now. I am little slow on Mondays :)
No. It was clearly denoted to excuse his crime due to age. Liberals are like that. They now consider under 26 to be children.
Yes, he is in his teen years, but in the eyes of the law, he is an adult.
Legally, there is no such thing as a teenager. That’s a societal term. Juvenile and adult are the legally defined terms.
USlegal.com defines an adolescent as a child in puberty before the age of majority. https://definitions.uslegal.com/a/adolescence/
The same site notes that the Age of Majority is defined differently in some states. New Jersey, where the crime occurred defines it as an individual 18 years of age or older. https://minors.uslegal.com/age-of-majority/new-jersey-age-of-majority-law/
So yes, by societal norms, the criminal is a teenager, but by the law, he is an adult and his status was poorly defined. You may want to share this with your accountant.
My thought exactly. Too bad communicating an accurate idea is no longer a requirement for the press. Just throw out some words that seem ok and maybe the reader can figure it out.
What crap writing!
I call it “word salad”. The term is not original to me, but I saw it somewhere and thought it quite fitting.
The brave deputies ran away...
The courthouse crowd is not making any money off of him if he is in jail. They need him out on the street committing more crimes to be a prime earner for them.
Regrettably, no one has been executed by the state of New Jersey since 1963, although a statute reinstating capital punishment for murder had been in force from 1982 until 2007. With radical progressive Governor Murphy, it ain't comin' back unless maybe one of his family is taken out.
