Florida emergency medical teams frustrated over 'delay' in Parkland school shooting response
Fox News ^ | 2-26-18 | Matt Finn

Three high-ranking Florida officials close to the law enforcement response at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tell Fox News there was a delay in Emergency Medical Service getting into the school in the critical moments after Nikolas Cruz allegedly opened fire, killing 17 people and wounding at least 14 others.

Two separate sources told Fox News some of the EMS teams who requested to enter the school were told they could not. One source said it was the Broward County Sheriff’s Office – which was the commanding office – that ordered some of the EMS crews not to go into the school when they requested to enter.

“What’s going to come out is, in the communications on several circumstances, there was the request to enter... the request was denied from Broward County,” a Florida official told Fox News.

“When you have a police agency saying we don’t want you going in, that’s a problem,” another Florida official said. “The training since Columbine has been [that] first responders, police go in immediately with paramedics.”

One fire official said if there was a delay in the deputies' response, it would have had a domino effect on EMS.

If the sheriff isn’t fire this week, Scott is very incompetent.

This is a serious question: If the authoritahs actually wanted this to happen and for as many people to die as possible, would they have done anything differently than what they did?

Broward S.O. was aware that Cruz was about to go postal.....and they let him.

And then they stood back and let him do it.

Probably just incompetence...but....

Well he’s a wuss, that’s for sure. Probably doing polling to see what he should do...

Meanwhile, people in Broward better hope those expensive houses don’t catch fire because if a deputy gets there first he’ll probably keep the firemen from putting it out.

the ‘real-time’ feed of the shooting was on a delay. Twenty, thirty minutes wasted.

Wondering when, if ever, we are going to get the real story of what happened.

I hate to sound cynical but after Waco, Oklahoma City, TWA 800, 9/11, Benghazi, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas...and now this, I really have very little trust in anything the government or the media tells me.

Missed that one

STICK TO THE FACTS
In the Parkland case, their security system had a dismal record concerning student safety and security that should be brought to public discussion particularly beginning with this school having a so called “gun free zone”.
From what has been reported .This school system did have an understanding with the Broward County Sheriff’s Dept. An officer who may be armed assigned to patrol the multi acre site in a golf cart, but bans guns from the rest of its internal security

Criticism arose when the officer assigned to this duty who was nearing retirement was reported to arrive late and after Cruz had entered the building. The officer stationed himself outside the large structure and had called for support. Two BCSD officers responded Which and did the same seeming to refusing to enter the building while armed . He then left before Cruz did.

Also responding was the Coral Shores PD who entered the building and cleared it. Cruz was captured while fleeing with other students by an alert CSPD officer on the 45 acre campus.

Those laissez faire attitudes strongly suggest examining records beside the interaction between the BCSD and this school board also calls for a review how the bureaucracy at this school handled student vs student, and student vs teacher (Cruz was accused of this) altercations, vandalism, thefts, and drug use. Which are bound to occur were being dealt with.To which a dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents were reported after a visit by Obama occurred was publicly acclaimed.

Because of these Ding Bat liberal policies it brings up another question. Just how safe and secure were those kids ? .Examine records reporting how student vs student, and student vs teacher altercations, vandalism, and thefts, which are bound to occur were being dealt with. Beside the arrangements with the BCSD.

Because in an educational unit this size it’s pretty clear their security system failed . In a secure system Cruz would have never gotten within the grounds let alone inside.

Now that school board has decided to tear down the school which was probably raised by a funding referendums and the grounds house a memorial

Sources for the formulation of this report come from postings from newspaper and television stations placed in Free Republic by volunteers during the period of Feb 14th to the 25th The original sources are linked in these postings

Wow...the more we learn, the worse it grows.

I’d read the one account of an emt guy yesterday saying he wasn’t let in, but now it appears none of them were let in.

Scott can’t wait for a long FDLE investigation - Israel has to go.

Better response than at Sandy Hook where there was ZERO medical personal allowed on the sight!, All responding EMTs, Deputies, State Troopers were stopped 2 blocks away. While only 12 minutes from the first 911 call all victims were pronounced dead!

FACTS, so what do you do with that???

Sheriff is elected, not appointed. Needs recall election.

In Florida the governor can replace any constitutional county officer, including sheriff, tax collector, supervisor of elections, etc.

State Troopers?
In Texas, Texas DPS Troopers supersede other law enforcement ‘cept Texas Rangers.

Not so.

Florida Statutes, Chapter 112.51 Municipal officers; suspension; removal from office.—
(1) By executive order stating the grounds for the suspension and filed with the Secretary of State, the Governor may suspend from office any elected or appointed municipal official for malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, habitual drunkenness, incompetence, or permanent inability to perform official duties.

IMHO, Scott should suspend him immediately.
