...Trump told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.,...that a comprehensive gun bill would not pass if it included a concealed carry reciprocity proposal desired by Republicans....Trump told Scalise...it should pass as a separate. If you’re going to put concealed carry between states into this bill, we’re talking about a whole new ball game.”...the White House proposal will include raising the minimum age for buying long guns to 21 from 18 -- a proposal that Trump acknowledged is opposed by the NRA.

The news about Trump wanting to bar 18 to 21-year-old people in our military forces from purchasing rifles or shotguns is here.

Red flags of warning flying everywhere. The Republicans can pass these proposals with minimal Republican votes since Democrats would vote for it. This is very, very unsettling to be coming from our President.

Just makes you want to sing “New York,” eh? [Load of irony and sarcasm there.] Well, there it is. My suspicion was correct after all.

Support the NRA and other Second Amendment organizations. Vote more Republicans into Congress. They’re going to need greater majorities for veto overrides.

He keeps this sort of stuff up and there is 100% guarantee that Congress and the Senate will be lost to Democrats, because a major portion of his base will sit home. Within a few months of that, Trump will be impeached and convicted.

Trump loses support of gun owners and he loses office of President in 2020.

There are 5 million AR-15 owners in the US. Most were enthusiastic Trump supporters in 2016. If he stabs us in the back what do you think the chances are that we'll be there in 2020?

I don't think this guy is going to be re-elected.

I’m not liking this one bit—national reciprocity at some future date, raising age, and other stuff. Trump is wobbly on this and is getting bad advice. Isn’t he seeing what in happening to Delta? Doesn’t he remember the response he got last week at CPAC? Trump is wobbly on this and I figure the source is Ivanka and Jared. Them and RINOs on Capital Hill who are more than ready to roll on any of this—make excuses, then use the continued fight to raise campaign funds.

This is an issue where Trump's Art of the Deal, 3D Chess, or Trump's mad negotiating skillz just isn't going to cut it.

Any gun control bill passes Congress the Republicans are toast this fall, impeachment proceedings will immediately begin against Trump, and we either have a 2nd Civil War or we meekly succumb to the globalist leftist agenda.

And I don't know about you, but I ain't taking orders from blue helmets or bureaucrats in Brussels.

As badly as I want CCW reciprocity passed into law, I think tactically Trump is right. Two different issues.

Agree. The Left is salivating over the possibility of taking over the House. I don’t think Trump would be removed from office (although with the turncoat Pubbie Senators, the Left might be able to get 60 votes in the Senate) but nothing Conservative would ever get done again in a Trump Admin. And then a Dem will be elected to the Presidency in 2020 and our country will be done. Period.

We will not do anything without reciprocity — I promise you that.Someone needs to calm Trump down before he starts losing his base.

If he keeps this up, he deserves to be impeached and convicted.

I’m not sure if I believe Fox is representing Trump correctly, but if they are, this would be his first major gaffe.

If “comprehensive” gun legislation includes magazine capacity limits, it has a better chance WITH reciprocity as a trade off.

Without it, his base wins NOTHING, and his opponents are about as compromising as Palestinians.

If this isn’t a poison pill, he has REALLY screwed the pooch with this one.

"He keeps this sort of stuff up and there is 100% guarantee that Congress and the Senate will be lost to Democrats, because a major portion of his base will sit home."

That was my reflexive thought. Then I realized that he might want us to do just that.

"Within a few months of that, Trump will be impeached and convicted."

But maybe not. What if Democrats decide that they like him...or love him! Remember that he's from New York and not more than, what, descended two or three generations from Europe at the most?

What if congressional majorities were Democrat next year, and Trump gave them *everything* they wanted?

Then Oprah or Hillary. Checkmate. We lose the U.S.A. to...New York: the megacity of un-American foreign hordes!
