Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons.
“Allow due process so no one’s rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons,” Pence said.
“Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court,” Trump responded.

Feint or not, this sort of crap is why the government is (in theory) divided against itself.
Nothing will happen.
Our system is signed for deliberation not for getting things done quickly.

Reserving opinion on this until Trump has time to play his hand. He is good at throwing bait out and getting the RATS to take it. Recall his strategy with the Dems and DACA....it was very effective.
Let’s see what these “bipartisan” groups come up with in terms of a baseline bill....

I think Trump is trying to get the kids and the anti-gun groups out of the news cycle. I don’t support what he’s doing, and I could be wrong. I’m pissed that no one in Washington or in the media are talking about the excellent job Sundance did in exposing all of this six years ago.

That is the context I heard.
And this is already the case. Say you legally own a gun. One day you go off your nut, call the police and say you are losing your mind. The people you live with agree and give the cops details that you are about to lose it. You are on psycho pills, and have been taken into protective custody. Your housemates say you held a gun to their heads.
The cops in almost every state have the legal ability right then to take his guns and take him into protective custody. Then AFTERWARDS, a court proceeding must begin.
This is nothing new.
That’s all well and good, but making the left’s argument for them before later arguing against yourself is perplexing at best, self-destructive at worst.
When the last illegal alien is removed from the country come and talk to me about guns.
