Vladimir Putin warned the West Thursday that Russia has developed a high tech new arsenal — including a supersonic nuclear weapon that can reach any spot on Earth while avoiding missile-defense systems.
Delivering his annual State of the Union address, the Russian president said his country was prepared to use its nukes if attacked, and added that Moscow would consider a nuclear attack on its allies as a nuclear attack on the Motherland — and would retaliate immediately.
“I want to tell all those who have fueled the arms race over the last 15 years, sought to win unilateral advantages over Russia, introduced unlawful sanctions aimed to contain our country’s development: all what you wanted to impede with your policies have already happened,” he said. “You have failed to contain Russia.”

Seriously, though, I sincerely doubt Putin would start an all-out nuclear war over Syria or Iran. Russia's relationship with them is apparently advantageous to them now, but even Vlad has to realize that neither of those piss-ant sh!t-holes is worth destroying the world over.

Russia is feeling paranoid after what they consider unfair attacks from the west, including that NATO-engineered coup in Ukraine during the Sochi Olympics.
Vlad is campaigning, there is no way, he’d be reelected in a free election, he’s as valid a leader as Kim Jong Un and heads up all the corruption, they can’t even get their athletes on a legitimate team representing their country in the Olympics, the system is so crooked.
Well, I certainly HOPE that their missiles can defeat us, considering that we’ve given them nearly 30 years to work on it - while we were arguing about gay marriage and who should pay for Sandra Fluke’s condoms and declaring the “end of History” has arrived and the world is at PEACE!!!
The only REAL QUESTION is what does Putin do with his advantage. Does he start making moves, such as TELLING the West that they best end sanctions if they don’t want to see Estonia, for example, go back to Moscow control? And what about China. They’ve had the same 30 years and are likely beyond us also. Does Putin team up with them, to put an end to US domination once and for all? Time will tell!!!

As Reagan bankrupted and caused the Soviet Union to collapse through an arms race, Putin and Xi are tag teaming the US with the same goal in mind.
It does not matter how fast your missile are if you never get them in the air and they are smoking holes in the ground. If you made a first strike Putin and managed to get some birds up, there would be nothing left standing in Russia to gloat about for then next thousand years.
Actually one difference is that the Soviets back there knew that there was an arms race, and were doing their best to win it, or at least not lose it.
We’ve had nearly 3 FRIGGEN DECADES to figure out that this book was DEAD WRONG and that the world did not and never was going to move into a state where we had ‘peace and love’ everywhere and all countries would be liberal democracies.

The guy was full of shit, but he has set our military policy for the past 28 years...and is STILL doing it, which is why we’re not even trying to step up to the challenges of Russia and China.
We’re getting damn close, too damn close, to the point where Russia or China will simply take out a carrier with a missile we never thought would be developed because of ‘the end of history’...and we simply pull back into a regional power, and then less than even that.
Bingo, so what if anyone has a doomsday weapon.

Our retaliation would exterminate anyuone that attacked us. that’s right, exterminate, as in, so cratered out that their gene pool would be ended.
