Justice Department processing pardon case for sailor Trump compared to Hillary Clinton
Washington Examiner ^ | March 2, 2018

The Justice Department is processing a pardon application from former Navy sailor Kristian Saucier after denying him a waiver to apply for a pardon last year.

President Trump repeatedly invoked Saucier during the 2016 campaign after he was sentenced to one year in prison for taking pictures inside a nuclear submarine, arguing Saucier was “ruined” for doing “nothing” compared to Hillary Clinton.

The photos Saucier, now 31, took inside the sub were deemed “confidential,” meaning the lowest level of classification, even though some depicted the vessel’s nuclear reactor. Clinton, by contrast, sent and received more highly classified information on a private and insecure email server.

So what is taking this so long? The DOJ is slow even for a Government organization. We don’t need a special council for this one. just do it.

Yes. A president's pardon power has few limitations. THE DOJ has a 'pardon office' to advise the president about details and consequences, but the president needn't consider them at all.

Nice to hear. It doesn’t sound like the guy meant any harm, and has certainly suffered enough.

Trump is a stickler for details and the processing the paperwork is part of it.

back in the late 1990s we were building a not so-secret new technology item for the Navy.

The item happened to be included as a itty bitty, completely indecipherable, blue bit, in the far far background of a photograph of our shop floor in our monthly employee newsletter ( at that time emailed )

within 1 hour of publication ; I received a ‘friendly’ telephone call from my counterpart in the Navy regarding said photograph.

There are other military prisoners at Leavenworth that need to be pardoned too, now!

Either Hillary and all her cohorts should go to prison or nobody should.

If there isn’t going to be equal justice under the law Congress should
repeal every law about espionage or else the FedMob can shove it!

What was it when Obama had Russian officials toured through or nuclear weapon facilities? Isn’t that a hell more damning than a photo?

Sorry. I have a different view on this. This sailor knew the rules, broke the rules and is now paying the price. The reason for those rules are to protect our technology. I have worked with classified data. We all know the rules and consequences.

Trump should just do it and be done with it. It is his right to do so and in cases like this really no need for lengthly process. Just do it. And return the guy to active duty service.

Once informed our staff we wanted an Ordnance Alteration for deployment. Name was unclassified. Phones started ringing quite quickly then too.
