Status: Our FReepathon continues despite the server problem. [FReepathon thread LXII]

As of midnight on the morning of March 1, the credit card processing company we use upgraded their systems software and now our system is incompatible with theirs. I'm not a systems tech so can't sufficiently explain all the details, but long story short, after lots of recompiling and rebuilding, John has been unable to resolve the incompatibility issues without impacting the rest of our system and doesn't want to risk bringing down our entire system. Kind of risky doing this kind of work in real time under a full load with no way to test.

So he's now in the process of setting up a completely separate secure server, kind of like we used to have prior to our last upgrade. This way he can recompile and rebuild all the systems programs on the separate secure server and resolve the issues without risking or impacting the rest of FR. When it's complete, the "https://freerepublic.com/donate/..." series of links will point to the new secure server for our donation system and the rest of the "https://freerepublic.com/..." links will continue pointing to our current servers and they are also secure servers.

He says there's a good chance this can be done today (that was yesterday but didn't make it--let's pray for today) and then we'll be back to normal with our FReepathon. Meanwhile, the special PayPal links I set up work for those using PayPal and, of course, mail-in checks are always greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: I learned yesterday that PayPal also has a Credit/Debit card GUEST Checkout option. No need to login to PayPal. Click the "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" option on the PayPal page that comes up after you click the "Pay Now" button below on our page.

I’ve been surfing around Alexa looking at traffic. As I wrote the other day, FR is #6 in its category.

Moreover, it appears that FR’s traffic numbers are actually much greater than any US conservative facebook alternative that’s on the web.

My personal read is that your software is lightyears better for discussion, that you’re far more user friendly, and that you’re ultra-fair with a whole range of conservatives.

Wow, that credit card thing sucks. I don’t know how all these web sites manage to stay in business with the constant disruptions from the credit card processing company.

But, you dont need a credit card to hit those couch cushions! As promised, I made the rounds here in the t-park. I got told no a fair bit and had to trade some leftover Bud Light in a few cases (skunked, so who cares), but managed to round up almost $11!

Have to see the best way to get that to you. Sending the coins doesn’t work out so well on the postage (found that out last time).
