Colorado lawmaker switches parties after being ousted as Democrat on sexual misconduct allegations
Fox News ^ | 3/3/18 | Joseph Weber

A Colorado state Democratic lawmaker was expelled Friday amid allegations by female colleagues about sexual harassment or abuse -- but not before switching political parties.

Rep. Steve Lebsock was expelled by a 52-9 vote after five female state House members took their turns at the podium to come forward as victims of sexual harassment or abuse.

Democrat Rep. Faith Winter and four other women accused Lebsock of harassment and intimidation inside the Capitol and at area bars and restaurants.

Lebsock bitterly contested the claims, saying his accusers were lying and accusing an independent investigator of bias in concluding that the claims were credible.

He becomes the second U.S. state lawmaker to be expelled since the #metoo movement emerged last fall. Last month, Arizona state Republican Rep. Don Shooter was expelled over misconduct claims; a California state senator resigned before colleagues tried to formally expel him amid sexual-misconduct allegations.

His last minute change of party was a middle finger to his fellow Democrats. In Colorado, if a member of the legislature resigns or dies then his party gets to name his or her replacement. He wanted to deny the Democrats a seat, but it doesn't look like he'll succeed. The Colorado Republicans are supposedly going to pass on naming his replacement and will let the Democrats do it instead.

Well we sure as hell don’t want him.

And the Colorado Republicans are making that clear by saying to the Democrats, "You elected him. You own him."

Or, maybe it was a finger at republicans. That way all the slime propaganda would show a republican as the deviant.

The only way the Republicans could be shown as deviant would be if they insisted on filling the seat. That could be seen as embracing the disgraced legislator.

Since the perv has switched to be Republican, the seat is Republican. Keep the seat then expel the perv to put in a Republican, win win.

So the Republicans should be seen as accepting the disgraced pervert as part of the party? Good plan.

The perv is not part of the Republicans but his seat is, those are both undeniable facts.
It would be dumb to let the seat to the Dems who won’t have any such scruple. Play nice a la Mitt Romney is NOT a good plan, that’s a fact too.

We need a running total by party, might be useful in Nov.

This story encapsulates the current Republican / Democrat dynamic. Two parties, filled with corrupt individuals with no moral compass, whose only goal is staying in power by any means. The labels, Republican / Democrat, are there as a distraction for the public. It’s a kleptocracy, and when the occasional outsider like Trump manages to slip in, they become a target for destruction by the kleptocracy.

Democrats control the Colorado House 37 seats to 28. Claiming this guy just to gain a seat won't change anything.

Senator Charles F. Meachum: There are no sides. There's no Sunnis and Shiites. There's no Democrats and Republicans. There's only HAVES and HAVE-NOTS.

It’s funny (not) - the pubbies in my state are so inept and so desperate for members they likely would have welcomed this trouble with open arms.

From now on, when this guys name comes up the Drive Bys will refer to him as a R. You can bet on that. And while we try to explain the whole story, they will be long gone hitting their next target.

Don’t get too excited about that prospect.

This legitimate ouster will be followed by many FALSE CHARGES against GOP.

They will pretend that all accusations should be believed and acted on, without due process.

Speaking of switching parties, I saw Joe Manchin (socialist dem, WVa) on the tube yesterday, and if you listened to him and didn't know him, you'd think he was a great GOP member, but just a glance at his voting record and you can see he bends over for sChmuckie Schumer on EVERY issue.
